C32 vs M3 in straight line
Thats what i thought.. As I said I didn't believe him.. And as I also said I was under the impression that C32 is faster between 100-200km/h, due to high torque and high output.
My friends keeps whining that the SMG is faster than 6 speed MT, is that correct? I told him impossible, but then again I only tried the SMG didn't try the MT?
If so please provide numbers, or a site where I can find numbers from.. Because this guy has really caused us a headache lool everytime we gather he just speaks about how cool is his M3 and stuff. Ok its a very nice car, but get along.... We all like our cars, because thats why we bought them...
I think TopGear or 5th Gear tested both the SMG and the 6-MT.
Bottom line from an M3 owner:
1. C32 should be able to edge out an M3 CONVERTIBLE. 0-60 in the convertible is about 5.2-5.4 seconds. You should beat him.
2. SMG is a bit slower from 0-60 mph than 6MT because 6MT can launch at a higher rpms. However, the faster you go (and thus, the more shifting that you do), SMG will catch up slowly. The 1/4 mile mph is about the same with a SLIGHT edge to SMG. Basically, 6MT is faster thru the first gear. The only way that you can shift faster than SMG is by powershifting (aka never lifting your foot from gas pedal, even when shifting) by a drag racing professional. And SMG shifts faster than Speedshift on AMG cars.
3. From a roll (5-xx mph), SMG should edge out 6MT because you take away 6MT launch advantage.
Conclusion: The fact that your friend has a CONVERTIBLE and SMG means that you should be able to take him easily from 0-60 mph. From a roll, it is a bit harder, but you should edge him out.
Remember, SMG makes perfect launches everytime...so you better know how to launch your AMG!!
Good luck...and kick that ****y SOB...he's making a bad name for M3 owners!
.. And to tell you the truth if i wear between C32 and M3 I would go for the M3, for the fact that it is a coupe.About the SMG, well I think you can rev it. If I am not mistaken you hold the gear knob to the front and rev, then release the knob. Works like a clutch.
I don't own a C32

What you are talking about is LAUNCH CONTROL...it will only rev your engine up to 1800 rpms. Remember, SMG is a pure manual tranny.
Thai Noodles, I don't know what your problem is but
I bet it's hard to pronounce.
Sensitive...you're even more sensitive than my girlfriend!
I'd hardly call $1.95 for the first minute and $3.95 for each following minute a "girlfriend".
Whatever point you attempt to make, you come across as a typical BMW *****. No offense.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I always see M3 in my rear view mirror, but I really like M3's front skirts.
If you come to Hong Kong one day, let me know. I will let you know how powerful of our AMG power!BTW, I saw your info and I noticed that you are almost 60 yo right.

If you come to the US, i will show you how good of a handler is my M3.
I will go to US next month but not Texas. If I visit Texas one day, I will let you know.
Yup, i am over the hill! I am just trying to recapture my youth with the M3.
If you come to the US, i will show you how good of a handler is my M3.
Take a look in the mirror, *****.
Was that the best you could do?
If you drive as bad as you banter, you've undoubtedly
fallen victim to many a Honda Accord.
When do you graduate?

At least, i don't own a C230...oh, i mean C32...they all look the same!:p
personally I got better things to do than argue endlessly about a topic that's been talked about for 2-3 years already.
Well, according to you, i am a bum under a bridge...i am happy with that image.

At least you know when to humble yourself.
Kudos for that. Once you reach puberty,
you'll develop the skills needed
to discern between automobile makes.
Until then, enjoy happy thoughts of driving

You do realize that you're depriving a village somewhere of their idiot?
That's because at M3 forums, people don't hesitate to speak their minds because they have nothing to lose.

Oh yeah, BTW, you're right, i will speak my mind and i don't have anything to lose...that's the internet for ya!
