Does this look normal
Drivers side strut doesn't look like my passenger side one. Drivers side strut looks like spring is **** eyed hanging over edge. Is this normal
yes I know it's dirty

Cover is damaged so you should replace, clean the shock pistion rod before installing new cover..
If the rod is scatched i will replace both shocks.

spring not sitting in side perch, what cover are u talking about? Boot cover? Pic was taken when car jacked up. Thanks for input

Jacked the car up today -15c weather and looked and found that the spring is broken.
It looks like it has been broken for a while. U can see it at the back of perch

Looks like an old break to me, car has 68,000 miles, and I tracked it 4 times last fall like that, yep just order HR coilovers, with new top bearings.
One question do we need to use #4 pad in back?

I have seen at least one other person who posted a similar break in a spring before. No idea how they happen, I can only assume a defect in the metal, maybe with some corrosion and combined with a large amount of force.
