C55 leaking rear main seal
Was doing my oil change and noticed a good amount of oil on the trans plastic cover and some oil up where the trans connects to the back of the motor.
I wiped the cover down and drove home(20ish miles) where I took it off again to check. There were already three-four drops on the cover again so it seems that the leak might be pretty bad.
My concern is that the person I trust to work on my cars wont be available for about a month or two. Can I drive like this? Should I get a trans dip stick and keep checking the fluid level in the mean time and add if needed until I can get it fixed?
Thanks

Did you trace the leak with a light if possible to see its main stream? I checked mine one day thinking I too had the problem. Found out it was my dipstick tube o-ring seal. It doesn't seem to hard to replace but I will have to find time doing it.

Almost every m113 has a rear main seal leak. Keep an eye on your oil level and you will be fine. Eventually it will just give way and dump oil faster than you can put it in but it will take some time to get to that point.

Rear main seal, extremely common.
Trans fluid usually won't be red unless it's extremely fresh, it will usually be anywhere from gold to black depending on age. This is normal and MB states to not judge condition by the color.

I have never replaced that plate and have never had an issue, done many. You do have to remove it and reseal it but I've never replaced it and haven't had any come back.

Had the same problem on my C32, although mine never leaked that bad. A friend of mine had his E55 leaking daily. It won't hurt the car as long as you keep replacing the fluid.
