How much does a m113k engine swap cost
Ive heard many numbers but would like to hear from others.
Ive seen m113k engines sell for 2-2.5k (c55 motor Worth 1-2k) so basically engine can cost you 500-1.5k.
How much would the labor be on programming, removing and istall new engine, etc
I would estimate the build around 5-7k, what do you guys think?

Just money or time and emotional distress? I researched this when I had my CLK55. I would say US$7k should be enough. It shouldn't be hugely complicated but if you have electrical gremlins then you may be in for a bad time.

not sure if exactly the same for c55 / m113 motor, but i just did a motor swap on my c32 and was fortunate to get one of the best guys around to do the swap who's done many (in Chicago) with C32s / SRT6 / E55 motors.
labor is about 1500. finding a good motor is the challenge and for a very good C32/m112k replacement motor it cost me 3k for a exceptional motor out of a SRT 6.
if you needed a C32/m112k motor then i'd say call Jerry at EC as he had a low mileage m112k motor which he (at the time, last fall) said he could install with labor included for about 4k assuming i got the car down to Houston and his shop.
bummer your C55 / m113 motor went out but check around. ask the EC guys or even Rob at Needswings if he's got any ideas on motors for sale.

I am pretty sure he wants to use the 5.5L supercharged engine as an upgrade. Not quite a simple swap, needs fuel system changes, ecu, wiring, supercharger bypass, clutch operation, intercooler pump, heat exchanger and probably the final gear ratio needs to be accounted for with either the differential or TCU change etc.

I’ve been looking for someone with a working C55K but haven’t met anyone personally. I know they’re around and I’d love for one of those folks to come talk about final costs and hurtles they had along the way. EurochargedATX said they would find me a motor and do an entire turn key swap and with cooling upgrades. When I asked for price it was hard for them to give me an honest answer because of the unforeseen issues that may or may not arise. The guess I was given for a good reliable install with heat soak sorted out was “around $10k, give or take a couple grand”. At that point I decided it would probably be best to just sell my car for $10k next spring/summer and buy a decent mileage cls55 and build out from there. I can’t see investing $10k into my car, when its only worth about that much. If anyone has better pricing on a reliable install, please speak up. I’d love to know how much, where it was done, how long it took and if its been reliable?

There are a few with CLK55's running the supercharged engine. I went through the same mental exercise as you and ended up selling the CLK55 for an E55, never looked back. Even a stock CLS55 will put a huge grin on your face let alone adding power mods.

Yeah, I’m going to make the fatal error of going and test driving one either today or next weekend. I’m going to fished deleting all four cats on my C55 and installing the intake. Other than that, I feel like most of my power mods for the NA motor are done at that point(Eurocharged ECU, true dual exhaust w/X pipe and w/no cats and an intake). Can’t think of any other bolt on that would yeild a really good gain other than those and then it’s time for an m113k cls. I’m trying to see the cons to going with the cls vs all the cons of swapping a m113k into the C55. Only one I can think of is the extra 700lbs in the CLS.

Yep headers, intake and ecu tune will give you about all of the easy gains you can get with the M113. A light weight M113k swapped C55 or CLK55 is very appealing but compared to just picking up a CLS55 or E55 ready to go with no headaches....
The reliability is less compared to the C55 due to airmatic and minor supercharger related problems but likely way better than an engine swapped car.

Yeah, I’m going with a CLS55 for sure. The suspension can be handled and the SC issues aren’t too bad if you know how to take care of a car and you have to have the money. Lol

Personally, after owning the E55 and SL55, i think there is no better option than swapping m113k into the c55. Weight savings, no airmatic, cheaper to maintain, great handling chassis with all that power.
Realistically the cost of the full labor, programming, wiring etc. will be around 5-6k. there are some shops in florida and chicago that have done the swap... I bought my C55 earlier this year for pennies. Now I'm going to do the swap and have a $10k 600hp daily sedan.

To each their own, I know lots of people that are completely happy with airmatic after installing after market shocks with life time warranty on them and people with coilovers are also happy with the conversion in the m113k cars. The wieght from a C (3590lbs) to E class is about 400lbs (E55 with normal sunroof is 3990lbs) and to gain dynamic seats, push start, better stock sound system, cooled seats, alcantara head liner, rear AC controls, rear leg room and more power is worth it to me. But, as I said, to each their own. I love my C55 for what it is, a much more reliable, little less powerful version of the E55. IMO installing the m113k defeats the great reliability part for me. Not to mention the money invested in C55 to swap, you could take that same $7k and invest that in an E55 on suspension and mods and have a 600whp daily car. Getting to 600whp in a m113k swapped C55 won’t happen with just a swap, you need another 4-5k invested in power mods and definitely cooling upgrades, belt slip kits, etc. Love what you drive but to say you can have a 600hp C55 for only $8k invested is misleading. I’m planning on going with a CLS55 and those really are pigs (4300lbs) but I love the looks, how rare they are and the potential for power.

I went from the CLK55 to the E55. The CLK55 is for most purposes the same as the C55, same engine, same transmission, same chassis apart from the doors. I am very happy I didn't attempt the swap in the CLK. Parts are more expensive here but even so it was not much more cost wise to get into an E55 instead (with 21,000 miles too). Everything works, the interior, options etc are incomparable between the two. I'm sure that for every swap that went perfectly there were another four with some major unexpected problems or delays.
In my opinion (that no one asked for) if you want a smaller car for better handling you need a porsche, corevette etc not a C55 or CLK. I love the airmatic in the E55, it's no track car but if it broke I wouldn't get coilovers. The w203 and w209 chassis do handle better than the larger w211 but I still wouldn't describe them as good and I had kw coilovers too.

Could not agree more. Leave the C55 what it is, if you want an M113k save yourself some time, money and heart ache and buy a car that was built with one in it from the factory.

I agree under two conditions, you can actually get traction and that the car ever works properly. The last point doesn't sound like an issue for you but not everyone has access to the expertise required to pull this off. Don't get me wrong, I am all for engine swaps and modifications but I have also seen enough failed projects to know that it is not for everyone

I have talked to many people and have seen the swaps in person and know a guy that does them best advice that everyone gave me was to buy a parts car they say you need so many little thing that add up and are hard to find. For the actual install it's very simple I could do it myself and I have very little experience the main problem is the wiring you're going to have to franken stein computers together and hope everything works and I'm pretty sure need to have some stuff coded I was quoted around 2k minimum just for wiring but they said if I want it to be cheaper they can also just put certain options on switches so in overview buy a parts car give both cars to a shop and I'll be around 7k for them to do the swap not counting the car or you could buy a parts car swap the motor get as far as you can and give the car to a shop to wire way cheaper option but still very complicated especially if you dont know anyone that does the swaps
