At the dragstrip....

Temperture around 70 F. Engine is quite hot due to a long drive to the strip. Second time ever at a drag strip, I was not happy with the 60' time. I need to practice my launch over and over and over again. I was aiming at 13.00's but......(obviously, 3594 is me!)

Have you not heard how to quickly cool down your engine? With the engine off and the key on, on your A/C hit the "EC" button, put fan to max, raise both temp controls to "High" and feel the heat coming through the vents. That is heat from your engine! Let it run like that for 15-20 minutes and your engine will be pretty cool.

Hey Harris:

Does it cool quicker with EC on or off?

I did notice that it seemed to cool quicker when I left it on full compressor (no "EC" lit) and turned off "Auto." But, then again, I am a farging idiot.

I did try this method as suggested by roozy. But I have encountered two problems: 1) yes, the engine will cool down pretty fast (as seen from the temp reading on the speedo), but as soon as you start the engine, the temp will rise back to normal; 2) I am afraid that if I just turn on the fan for an extended period of time without the engine running, the battery will die very soon.

Oh....99.99% of the cars are Honda, Toyota and Domestic. I am an alien there. Some people made comments like "oh....a Mercedes racing? on a track?" I had 4 runs, killed a 3.2 Type S, Integra with turbo, a Sunfire or something. Got killed by a Civic that runs 12.8.

I am running T1-S 235/265 18's, front pressure 40 psi hot, rear pressure 25 psi hot. Rear setting at 2 on my Carlsson RS-sport suspension.
