MKB differencial
I had the MKB diff. installed in my 1st round of tuning. The problem was when I added a Kleemann SC in the second round of tuning, I would bounce off the rev limiter in 1st and 2nd gear. The 50% increase in power was definitely causing some timing issues. I'm not sure of the technical details behin it.
We might go back to the stock diff. in this 3rd round of tuning if we can't get the ECU to work smoothly with the increased power and MKB diff.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
The ECU was just not fast enough, the sample rate between the ECU and the ADC fed from the tach, was way too slow. I could have hacked up the wiring harness and changed to an aftermarket ECU for the transmission, but did not trust the reliability.
Stomp on the the gas at 40mph, it would down shift, then hit redline (6200RPM) in about 1 second. That is the main reason I sold it .
To get a 1-2 6000 RPM shift point, we programmed the transmission to shift at around 3700RPM at WOT.
With automatics and electronic controls performance inprovements are limited by the speed of the transmission controller.
But that Ford 4R70W transmision would shift much better than the C32, quicker downshifts and upshifts, at only partial throttle and very firm, it would snap into gear. The ECU controller was too slow and it only had 4 gears.
This is why I now own a C32.
