Body Kit

Body Kit
Hey ladies and gents. I am new here and also new to the Mercedes scene. I recently bought a 2005 C55 AMG that was repoed and pretty neglected. It has hail damage all over it and the front bumper is pretty messed up. Question is; have any of you in here used the Duraflex body kits? I’m looking to put the W203 V2 body kit on with the Black Series hood and Morello fenders, all manufactured by Duraflex. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Oh damn. That sucks.. I really want to change the look of it up.. kinda make it my own. I’m not sure what all other model Benz front caps will fit the 05 C55 AMG. I’m completely new to Mercedes.

Welcome to the forum, congrats on the C55. One of the most important things to remember about your recent purchase is it's certainly not a typical W203. In order to make the V8 fit, Mercedes/AMG used the front end from the W209 CLK. Don't try buying regular W203 front bumpers or headlights thinking they'll fit your car. A common/popular upgrade is the CLK63 front bumper. I can't tell you exactly what needs to be done to make it fit, but I know it has been done. Pics of your car? Location?

Looks pretty good, other than worn switches/buttons. I ran a standing star on mine briefly but went back to a flat badge after a week or so.

Thanks, yeah I plan to go with a flat badge as well. I want to change the grill out also and put different wheels on. There are several broken items on the interior. The console is broken, the vents above the radio are just kinda sitting there, the shift know is missing the Mercedes badge on top, the rear window visor is stuck in the up position, front pumper is split, passenger tail light is cracked, the headliner needs to be replaced because it’s dirty and getting loose, the sun roof visor is loose and comes open when you punch the gas, I have all kinds of lights flashing across my dash saying I have lights out all around the car but they are all working, I believe it’s because they cut into the main head light harness and attempted to put after market HIDs in. I don’t have the navigation disk for the radio, the oil dip stick is missing, driver window motor going out, and the hail damage all over the car. I wish I could find a salvaged one that I could get parts off of or buy the whole car for cheap and get what I need off of it but I haven’t had any luck on that. Your car looks good btw. Looks well taken care of.

That's quite a list of items to replace! Luckily most are probably available at the dealership and not AMG-specific. For whatever reason, the C55 only got a silver button on the gearshift, so you're probably not actually missing anything. I know there's a C55 with front damage on Craigslist on my side on the country. May actually be two, if the Portland OR car is still advertised in addition to the car in Vancouver BC. As for my car, I'm the third owner and picked it up last year with about 92k on it. Wasn't supposed to be my daily driver, but I've been reluctant to fix the suspension issues on my '91 300te.

Yeah I have a pretty extensive list of items to replace. As far as the shifter goes, the entire center button is missing. You can see down into the handle. I will have to check out craigslist and see what’s available, only problem with that, most items on there are pickup only unless they are willing to arrange for freight shipping, I would be willing to pay for that to get a whole car. I know my car has a lot of minor issues but I couldn’t pass the car up for what it is. I only gave $5k for the car. It has 116k miles on it.

These cars also have no dipstick, only a plug where it should be. You need to eBay or Amazon yourself one. And don't bother with the Navigation disc. It's one of the worst systems I've ever used and being so old, isn't up to date in the least. Your phone is tons better and easier.

Are cars look pretty similar with the black oem wheels. You should just put an aftermarket head unit if you want gps. I have an Android one with waze and google maps installed.

Aftermarket radios will not be compatible with the steering wheel controls.
Everything on your list is still available from MB. Some things are cheap. Others will take you by surprise.
On the body kit, please don't. It's a nice car, not a clapped out Honda Civic. Please avoid the stick on garbage.

I am new also to the forum and to the Benz world. I bought a c230 2005 and would love to change the front end to the AMG styling. I saw a few bumpers on eBay a few weeks ago but was not ready to purchase. It appears now that the sellers are out of stock. Can anyone assist in directing me to an online store where I may be able to purchase the bumper as being shown on eBay. Much thanks.

yeah our cars do look a lot alike. I have an aftermarket double den pioneer that has pretty much everything you could want on it. I just have to find a head unit wiring harness that will match up with the Harman wiring harness. I think Crutchfield May have what I need. Not sure though.

lol thanks everyone, for your input. I had never seen it before, I was just kinda wondering everyone’s outlook on it. Though I don’t like the grill I have, I won’t be going with this one.
