C55 AMG Limited Slip Differential Interest
There was no need to add new bearings.
I was told that the diff now is smooth, has good preload, good backlash and a good pattern.
The backlash is now .13mm, which is right in the middle of the limits
I plan to start fitting the diff back in the C55 tomorrow.

Under normal light driving conditions, there is no differance to the driving characteristics.
However, when driving more spiritedly, the exits from corners are noticeably better. The C55 now launches out of corners and activating ESP (traction control) is a thing of the past.
This is the result I was looking for.

My understanding is that the C55s runs a beefed up HAG 215 diff; the same size as the AMG 63s.
The C320s have a HAG 198 and the C32s a HAG 210.
So, while the diff housings may be interchangeable (?), the C55s use a much stronger unit.
The problem I have with using a lower diff ratio; is the extremely low overdrive of .83.
In its stock form, the C55 revs at 2300 per minuite at 110 klm/hour (68 mph), which is fairly hight for a V8.
Lowering the diff ratio would only make highway cruising worse.
