Custom Air Box For Sale

I posted this a week or two but I posted in the wrong forum. So I wanted to place the link below which explains what I'm selling.
Basically it's the oem air box modded to gain more HP and TQ throughout the whole rpm range. Like the renntech air box minus the carbon fiber and price...

One thing not mentioned on the link below is that I now know how to remove the HAND CRAFTED plaque from the air box. You simply heat it up and pry it up slowly from all sides. It's held by double sided tape.

So if you buy one that I have purchased and modded you can remove yours easily and install it on mine once you receive it. This way you have the signature of your engine builder.

Then if you want you can send me your air box and I will refund $175.00 to your PayPal account. This way you won't be without a car. If you don't send your air box total price will be $610.00.

If you just want to send your air box for me to mod it will be $390.00. if you want your engine cover to match the modded air box send it with the box and I will only charge $20.00 to paint it.

See link below and the YouTube video the shows the air box I sell. Thanks.

What do you do inside the airbox? I've heard people removing vanes inside the airbox.

Vanes but more important the plastic "towers" Mercedes put in there. And there is the HEIGHT of the air box. Raise it, and the engine will breathe better. Breathing better the engine will surprise you what it can do! People don't get how much it's important to let the engine take in air freely. Let me help you see that, order from me and your car will be a blast. Seriously.

Speed is modding my C55 OEM airbox as we speak.

Pretty much the same principles and mods as a new Renntech box at a a fraction of the cost.

Looking forward to getting it back and giving it more air to inhale.

I'd be interested in seeing a back to back dyno run.

I'd be happy to do the dyno on video but have no interest in paying for a chopped up air filter housing.

As the vendor, I suggest you either do a back to back test yourself or send one out to someone who will do the same.
If you want to cover the shipping both ways I can hit the http://www.speedtek.net/ dyno two weeks from now and video the results. I'd suggest shipping it to the dealership where I work and I'll pick up a pair of new OEM filters to keep things balanced.

I will make 3 pulls: Stock airbox, modified airbox, and no airbox. To protect your investment in time I will not show the modifications done to the box. The dyno will show the results and we can have a print with the results overlaid on one another.

I can tell you that removing the airbox on an SLK55 picked up nearly 15 hp.

I'm a one man team so won't be making an air box just for a dyno.
From my experience doing this for close to 3 years, the people that don't ask or care for a dyno ARE the ones that buy.
I mean come on, more air volume, less restrictive = more power, common sense. Thats why without an air box a car will make as you say 15HP.
No restriction, plenty of air volume.

But, if anyone buys or sends their box, I will give you a $100.00 discount on the air box for you to dyno all you want.
This is all I'm willing to do, I do not own nothing but a C43 so can't do any testing myself.....

Thanks

More air isn't always better. Most times, faster air is what's required and simply "hogging" something out isn't the answer. See: good headwork and valve jobs.

That's why I do what I do to the inside of the air box. Less restriction, faster air.

You asked. I answered.

I sell MB parts for a living. My home based machine shop is my side business. It's fair to say that I get lots of dreamers without a clue as to why their little do-dad will cost them a couple hundred bucks. I, too, have a ton of expenses and overhead tied up in that shop.

Car guys are funny. For a few, cost is no object. For others, cost is everything. When dealing with 203 cars the latter group is prevalent. You have to show them what they're getting for their money.

My offer gives you that avenue at the cost of round trip shipping. It is your call as to whether that would or would not be beneficial for you and your venture.

I offered my time, expense, and impartiality at no charge.

It really is nice of you and I thank you.
But I like doing these boxes so for me whoever wants to buy one I will sell or mod theirs. I'm not out to make big bucks or make a business out of it. it's a hobby to make some extra cash.

If I sell one a month I'm a happy camper.

I understand completely. No hard feelings.

I imagine you pick up a little induction sound without the baffles. That, in itself, would be welcome as far as I'm concerned. As a matter of fact, I've been chasing ways to find the more aggressive exhaust note I want without making it annoying on a long drive at 2800 rpm. I put 55 miles a day on my car and want quiet when I'm behaving myself but wish it would take a bit more when I'm feeling froggy.

No, that's what you think you're doing but have no real idea if it works or not. Again, good head and valve work doesn't involve simply removing material and assuming more air=faster air.

I just received my box back from Speed on Saturday for my C55. He did a great job on turnaround time and shipping/packing well.

I will give it a few days of driving, then I will post a better review.

Initially, it fit perfect, and I did notice improved throttle response, especially from 25 mph on. Nothing scientific, just sent of the pants feel.

More later this week once I can drive it consistently for a while.

I have speed43 airbox and elbow on my 5.4 swapped w202 and Ill tell you the difference is noticeable easily.

Power is more linear throughout the whole rpm range. my car on the freeway speeds in D feels like its being driven in 4th gear.

Agreed.

That's why I offered to do a back to back dyno.

I've sold 25-30 air boxes total for w202 c43, clk. And now 5 c55. The c43 air box made 10HP-10TQ on a dyno. Customer was nice to do the dyno.

The renntech air boxes for these Mercedes models made the same amount. Renntech don't show their dynos but customers have tested and have claimed renntech are correct.

What I do to the air boxes is the same concept. You can keep on believing what you want. Me and many others know for sure the boxes make power. All you know is what you read or wherever you get your info. Make one, slap it in your car, then come and say it doesnt make a difference.

Not ONE person will ever go back to their stock air box!
Ok I have better things to do than to reply here. Whoever wants to buy a box or send theirs, don't let these kind of comment ruin your chance to make your car run better and stronger.

Why are you getting all wound up about this?

Nobody said your work is junk.
Nobody accused you of making false claims.

I offered to dyno one to show what kind of difference it makes.

I too purchased speed43’s airbox for my C55. George was there to answer my questions and a nice guy to work with. The airbox was delivered in two days.

The airbox is noticeably taller. I got a chance to drive about 60 miles yesterday with the new airbox on and I wasn’t disappointed. Throttle response has improved and my butt Dyno is telling me I picked up some power on the top end. I can’t necessarily say I gained 10 hp and 10 tq without a Dyno but I can definitely say that the car pulls harder. My only concern before recieving the box was whether or not the binding agent used on the airbox wouldn’t deteriorate over time but it looks pretty strong and George did a good job. If you have been contemplating the Renntech airbox like I was, I think this airbox for $350 is a great alternative.
