Could be a couple of things.

1) could be you are not pressing it back hard enough for it to engage the auto open feature. Make sure it clicks when you press it back; or

2) you need to reset it to automatically open and close. I had to do this after I had removed my battery for a while. To reset it, press and hold it back until it is fully open and keep holding it for another couple of seconds. Then close it and hold it until it is fully closed and keep holding it for another couple of seconds after that. That should reset it to automatically open and close again.

If neither one works, maybe it needs some repairwork. Hopefully that's not the case.

Good luck.

I had the same exact issue.

The dealer claimed that all you need to do is a resynch. It would work for a while but the problem kept coming back. This is a common issue and happens quite a bit

However mine turned out to be a faulty sunroof module. Once that was fixed it was fine.

Ask your dealer to resynch the sunroof and windows. If it comes back then it is a faulty sunroof module.

Sunroof trouble

I had a similar problem on my sunroof on my E-AMG car.. it would open, however, sometimes, only sometimes it would not close.. it would start closing, then stop as if there were debris on the track and open back up...

-Tried re-setting the switch.. ir worked for 2 days... then the problem came back.

-Tried re-setting the memory of the device... worked for a few days and again the problem appeared...

Final solution: dealer replaced the run roof motor... and it happened to be also somewhat "known" --as mentioned on the previous postings on this thread-- of a defect on those motors very common on BMWs (which use the same motor by the way

My 2 cents.. anyone who disagrees is welcomed (that was just my personal experience)

My C'class is the same way. I am waiting to get my service B done and ask them to check it out. I have tried everything. It happens randomly.

As I mentioned on a previous posting before, I had my E-AMG car with that same problem.. like you said, it was random, so when I would take the car to the dealership, ot would work fine!!!... ahhhh!!... then it will fail at "its own".. whelp?... video taping the problem solved the problem... shortly after of my E I got my wife's BMW... whelp??.. exact same problem... since I had seen the problem already and explained it at the dealership (in this case the BMW one), the went right ahead and replaced the module...
One of the fortunate/unfortunate of having German made cars most of my life (whether is BMW, Porsche, M Benz-AMG, non AMG, VW, Audi) is that some "problems" are just known and very quickly when new ones come up, many times they just seem to "spread" very quickly like plague between brands!!... that is due that some parts (like sun roof motors and/or modules, some switches, especially between Porsche and VW/Audi) since they are shared between the brands, if the item has a defect, then chances are the other brands will do too!...

It seems you definitely need to get your module replaced!

One of the benefits of the "sharing" some of the parts is, for example, I move the magazine of Cds from my C32's CD changer to my wife's BMW CD changer without problem, both CD changers are identical! (just one has the little Mercedes Benz star and the MBW say's "BMW"... lol)

Yes Wiederman is right.

I looked through my service report and that what was fixed. Same symptoms intermittent failure when trying to do the one-touch close. Of course it never used to happen when I take it to the dealer so it took a few months to get this resolved.

Mr. Wiederman,

One small question. I like your posts and noticed that you use the word "whelp" a lot. What does that stand for? Just curious.

Prasith32,

I see that you are selling your brembo brake kit....how much are you letting those go for? And have you installed your illuminating door sills? Mine are on order. I see that you are from boston. I am from boston too....me and my friend might install them ourselves..but if u know someplace that can installed them for say 50 bucks...i will not deal with the hassel of self installation.

"Whelp" is a my slang for "Well???" as when you are explainning your frustration (say the intermitent sunroof problem.. like probabbly many of you, you take the car to the dealer and everything works!!!.. when I video taped it and took the car... THEN they DID listen... lucky me I have the habit to always carry my video camara and photo camara in the trunk of my car) to some Mercedes Benz (that happens only in the USA, in Europe they will LISTEN to the customer.. that also doesn't necesarily apply to all service advisors.. just the one I have dealed mostly in the USA... I don't like my cars being touches my multiple people... so good or bad... once I start with someone, I stay with that parson, lets say he needs to work on his "people skills" ) service advisor and they just seem to start listenning to y
ou for about 10 seconds; then, after that is like "watever!!"

Though I would like to take the entire credit for the "whelp", it was not mi idea... I have a good friend in Virginia (where Mr AMG Bred is from --or where he currently lives at least--) is the one who introduced me to the "whelp" word . This friend of mine and I have the same hobby of design, development and construction Remote Controlled Submarines. We (my virgina friend and I) have our own levels of frustration when projects (R/C Submarines that is) have something wrong with them and the "sea trial" missions become more like search and rescue missions after the sub sunk to the bottom of the pond! (please be advised real "sea trial" missions are never and can never be conducted on the submarines we built. The electronics used like radio frequencies, etc do not function in salt water. We can only use lakes, ponds, pools; the last one is the first to be used for a "sea trial" actually as there is "less diving" to do on pool environments )

Cheers!

PM me about the Brembo Kit. I have a bunch of people who are asking but would prefer to let it go locally as I don't want to go through the hassle of shipping it etc.

I am also toying with the idea of selling my carlsson suspension if you are interested.

I plan on installing my door sills next week. The dealership will do it but not for 50. Are you in the boston area? We should meet up sometime and compare. I saw a nice black c32 with the cl-type grill on brookline ave the other day. It was nice to see two c32's parked next to each other.
