Best way to change the tone of the exhaust?

Would changing cams do anything?
Also I feel like as far as exhaust mods, headers usually make the most difference in sound no? What are some good headers that will make the c55 sound different and what are our options for cams?
Cutting out my secondary cats made the exhaust louder and the cold start became an event, I'd have my gf start the car while I stood behind it so I could hear it as "the beast" came to life. Eurocharged headers made quite a bit of difference as well, they changed the tone of the exhaust and upped the volume by about 20%. With log manifolds cylinder #4 is closer to the end of the exhaust than cylinder #1 and thus they create a different sound when each cylinder fires. With equal length headers each exhaust pulse now travels the same distance and the exhaust sounds slightly different.
When I put it in comfort mode, roll all the windows up, close the sunroof and don't give it more than 1/4 throttle and you never hear the exhaust, it feels like a Mercedes, you could drive it around like this all day. When you get on it though it feels and sounds ferocious. Once in a while I might get a few pops from the exhaust after letting off at high revs. This would be enough for most people, if it's your daily I say leave it at this.
Next step for me is high flow metalcore cats, this should just raise the volume and improve power without affecting tone or drone. The final step is to put in an X pipe and run duals all the way back to the mufflers, eliminating the resonator and that annoyingly small y pipe between mufflers. This might ruin the car and make it drone like a Civic with a fart pipe but it should improve the sound and power even further. I'm just going to have some fun with this car since it isn't my daily and if I really hate it then I will seek out alternative solution (j pipe) or just revert back to stock resonator.

I know ways to make our exhaust louder but I want to completely change the way it sounds.
If you want to completely change the sound get a C32, it sounds completely different.

I have mine with secondary cats deleted and I hate this fact.
