C55 AMG paddle shifters slow
Just recently got an 05 C55 AMG. A fantastic car with an excellent power house. However, when I tried the "manual mode" for the first time, I used the paddle shifters on the steering wheel, which the shifting response time was at least a full second delay.
Is it just my car, or is this completely normal and the car was engineered this way?
Conductor plate, maybe?
Thanks.

It's the same with me takes a second to shift I noticed the gear shifter itself when you use manual mode and use right to upshift and left to downshift on the shifter it's way faster I would say almost instantly shifts.

It's a car from 2005 (when "paddle" technology was first coming out) with a transmission from 1980. Be happy we have buttons?

SOLD - 2005 C55
Welcome to the C55 world. It's a great car (to drive and to work on), and this forum is full of awesome ppl and information.
I can think of two things:
1. ECU reset (I'm not sure but sometimes referred as TCU reset). This is the process you turn the key to 'on' position while flooring the gas all the way to the 'click'. After 5 seconds, one notch back with key and release gas. Wait a few minutes (it seems to work after a minute) and turn the car on. That should reset the response to original condition.
2. Get a TCU tune. There are a few (mine by Kleeman) but they do shorten the shift speed a bit. Not too aggressive as it could shatter the transmission but improvement.
With the mod to paddle shifter, I really love C55 and still kept mine after 8 years or so (longest I've owned).
Good luck and enjoy!

That doesn't make much sense. The buttons and shifter whack both send the same signal through the CAN to the TCU.
