I have a c320 now so if i have to i will put my amg engine into it if the cost for a c32 is too much

If you're in the US you're going to have to import one. They never sold them here.

From what (admittedly) little I know, until a car is 25 years old it cannot be imported without either having gone through government crash testing, or being exempted under a special clause that allows certain "significant" automobiles into the country for exhibition (see Doug Demuro's video on the CLK DTM, it's a fascinating loophole). Given that the exhibition clause would not cover a C32, it comes down to the question of whether they consider the wagon variant to be a different enough vehicle that it would need to go through separate crash testing than either the sedan or the non-AMG wagon. I would be surprised if that were the case, but you never know. I know that the process does get easier once the car turns 25, but even then it can be fraught with headaches. The handful of pain-free stories I've heard were from people who bought them from dealers that handled all the actual importation and titling. It might be worthwhile to have a firm specializing in this stuff import one for you.

If you dig through Demuro's past videos, he has pretty helpful info on importing cars (you could probably find all the same info with a Google search or two, without watching hours of video, though). Specifically, the videos about his imported Skyline, his imported Nissan S-Cargo, and the exempted CLK DTM that was lent to him for review.

Hopefully someone on the forums knows more about this stuff first-hand and can chime in to correct anything I have wrong or fill in gaps.

Leave the 0 or remove the whole badge. Just because you did an engine swap it doesn't make it an AMG. It's just a C320 with an engine swap.

We had this argument over on SLK world. "what makes an AMG?"

I think we came to the conclusion if you have all the AMG bits, you can put an AMG badge on it (including engine). yes technically it isn't, but you can put the badge on it.

Try registering it with the Private Lounge and see what happens. They'll tell you that your VIN is not from an AMG. Swapping on a bunch of parts doesn't make it one.

I dont think any of us are doing AMG engine swaps for the sake of being accepted by people on the private lounge. If I put a Kleeman supercharger on my engine, I can put a Kleeman sticker on the back. same thing. It's more of a promotion of what you have under the hood.

What's unacceptable is people putting AMG badges on regular cars.

You can save that pretentious crap for a forum that gives half a shat. This isn't that place.

But you're not allowed to be a part of the Private Lounge. That's where the real racing happens, not at some silly track.

I spent some time recently digging into this for my own personal interest. There's an E55 on Craigslist not far from me, up in Canada, and the ad seemed like a great deal. This comparison isn't perfect, since we did get the W211 E55 in the US, but at least it's a start. I had to contact product_compliance@mercedes-benz.ca with the VIN for the car I wanted to import to the US, plus personal info such as my mailing address and full name. After about a week, I received this reply. Mercedes never imported the C32/C55 wagon here to North America, but they did bring the "regular" S203 over so maybe there's some hope after all. The Letter of Compliance will list the items that need to be changed before the car can be imported, if at all.
