BMW and MB

I know everyone is sick of hearing about this, and I won't bother anyone wiht my personal opinion because I am not qualified at all to give a judgement on a car vs. car basis. But I just read the post that Kain started about M3's and AMG's and the thread was closed but I just wanted to pass along something a friend said to me once . . .

He was in the market for a sport sedan. After test driving the 3 Series and the C Classe he came back to me and he said:

If you want Performance with Luxury, you buy a BMW.
If you want Luxury with Performance, you buy a Mercedes Benz.

Just something I thought I would share, thought it made decent sense.

I'll always be an MB Man, but I thought the way he put it was a valid opinion.

Well, I would like to rephrase it a bit:

If you want Performance with a little bit of Luxury, you buy a BMW.
If you want Luxury and Performance, you buy an AMG.

Well, I would like to add more to it:

If you want Performance with a little bit of Luxury with lot of problems and bad service, you buy a M power.
If you want Luxury and Performance with okay problems and nice service , you buy an AMG.

I had equal amount of problem for my old 00 328Ci and my current car, and service are about the same imo.

I can see that this thread is headed for closure as well. Luxury is often seen through the eyes of the beholder. Some will argue that a Lexus LS is more luxurious than the Merc. How do you define luxury? More comfort features or upgraded materials? Although I do like the interior appointments of the MB product line, I think that in comparison to the C32, the M3's interior is just as nice with better ergonomics, nicer leather hand, and comfort in my personal opinion. Why do some always have to win the battle? Can't we ever agree to disagree and respect another marque's offerings? I can overhear the conversation across the street... "The interior in my Bentley is so much better than your's in that square Rolls. Why would you even have considered buying that inferior car?..."

someone needs to fire bangle.....

bmw and mercedes both have great cars...It is up to the buyer if he likes the feel of the bmw or the feel of the mercedes.

On the service thing you can have a bad experience at any dealer.

i want to put some decent input into this thread right now, but I am not knowledged enough to do so.
the only thing i see is that the interior on my 93 is beautiful zebrano wood (granted it's been treated quite kindly due to my cleaning and taking care of) but when i look inside a 93 3series, i see a lot of plastic.
but then again, the 124 wasn't head to head with the e36 (92-99) 3 series . . . . it was the e34 5 series that teh E/D class was up against....am i mistaken?

the BMW dealerships around here dont always give out BMW loaners.... but the MB dealerships around here ALWAYS give out mb loaners... not always c-class either

and for free

jus thought id point that out

also... the mb dealership near me, gave me a free alignment even though im clearly WAY out of my suspension warantee

if anything even goes wrong, I can jus go back and b*tch at them 2 fix it and they always do

they still have not f*cked up my bumper despite it being lowered

i never have to make an appointment no matter what i need and they have always gotten the car back to me the same day
car wash... service A, service B... squeaky brakes... squeaking whatever...they will take care of it...

even I told them my suspension is making noise... they still checked it out for me despite me having aftermarket suspension
they checked it out and told me what was wrong so I could tell the body shop

they never act snobby when im sitting in the showroom doing hw waiting 4 my car in basketball shorts or messing around wit the SL's or S-classes or G-classes in the showroom, despite me clearly being a teenager...

the sales reps always come over and talk 2 me and if they think i really like the car they offer to let me test drive it, i test drove a new w209 CLk55 not to long ago...

told him bout the women I bought the c32 from how she let me test drive it but not floor it...the sales man responded with "cause shes old...go ahead, floor this baby!"

you guys know what the BMW dealership told me and my friend when we were waiting for his new M3 to get out of its 1200 mile service last year?

"get out of the car"
we were in a used Z3...

BMW SERVICE!!

most people saw bmw has excellent reliability since they provide a 6yr 100,000 mile warantee...

i dont understand why some people dont see it as an indication that they could possibly be offering that kind of warantee because their cars could be less reliable?

Thumbs down

The dealers here are just as bad, most of them don't look after you since they treat you as 'passers by'.

Sales have a 180 degree chance of attitude as soon as they realise you are actually interested in buying something at BMW

You are aware that Bangle did not actually design the new look of BMW models? Have you seen the trunk and rear quarter panel of the new Maybach? How about the new Acura? There seems to be a trend going on here, including mouse like devices popping up in cars other than BMW.
