C55 and Marin Mercedes dealer mark-up

I have a C55 on order and my Mercedes dealer just received a C55. $10,000 dollar mark-up (WHAT A JOKE) The sales manager tells me if I do not want to wait for my order he will knock $5000.00 off the mark-up. The sales manager continues to tell me how hot the C55 is and he will get the mark up. I replied that the C55 must be hot as it has been sitting on their showroom floor for 5 days now and no one has purchased it. Mercedes dealers are definitely over rating the C55. Just my two cents.

Tell him you'll give him $2,000.00 less than what you were going to pay and you will drive it off the floor today. Doing him a favor really.

Mercedes Dealers are masters at faking demand

Up here in Canada, they moved an E55 around from dealer to dealer (leaving each dealer one week to try to sell it). The sales rep would hype up the fact that a car was here early "but won't last long". I discovered this as I got called from 2 dealers weeks apart for the same car.

its all hype, anyone paying a mark up is an idiot...but if they can afford to do it, good for them i guess. Still an idiot.

That's highway robery, I would never pay mark-up for a car. I just dont get these dealers sometimes. Just wait for your car to get in, mine took me 3 months from the day i ordered it, they cant mark-up a car you pre-ordered.

It's a "Buyer's" market, so shop for the best deal.

Seems like there's always some moron willing to pay big $$$$$$$$$$ for bragging rights. I think Car & Driver once referred to it as the "stupid tax." The Miata and first E46 M3s come to mind as prime examples.

But the C55 isn't in this group. It looks like a C230 Sport Sedan and the economy is such that the peeps who buy cars in that price range aren't throwing money around anymore. Plus, it has competition. If a dealer tried to gouge me like that, I'd just walk out and go buy an S4 or M3. An E-bay auction for a C55 ended at $53k without the reserve being met. So much for the stampede. Great car but I agree with the overrated part.

You read my mind. After that dealership incident I started looked at the S4. The interior is a lot nicer than the C55's and for 27 less horsepower I'll skip the BS C series AMG mark-up.
