amg - faster, looks nicer, probably will hold its resale value better.
clk is nice, but not the amg.

It's probably going to change either in 2006 or 2007... if you are worry about the body style, then just lease it

i read in the european magazine called "CAR" that the new C class will be a 2006 model.

pictures are already out, and they said that it will continue to have the c55, but with 408hp instead of the 362hp. they also said that there may be a special run of c63 which is a huge v8 putting out 476hp.

How about a used CLK55? I almost bought an '03 earlier this year with 5K miles on it for $57K. I have some friends at AMG in Germany and while they say that it is not their best effort, they claim that it is their best balanced chassis. I needed the garage bay for another machine so I didn't buy it but their advice was never wrong before. Now if they bring a CLK63 to the us, I would be all over that but I don't think it will ever happen. *******s!

I don't understand why you have to ask us about 500 vs 55. That's a difference only you can justify to yourself. Asking us still doesn't drop another 20k in your pocket

Without a doubt the C55. I'm not a big fan of the way the W209 looks and the C55 is going to give you more performance. I'm also biased b/c I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick up a Kleemann Sced C55 and thought the W209 was a step in the wrong direction from the perfect German muscle car looks of the W208.

Isn't that what they always do to get rid of all the extra inventory and to spur sales on their last production models? From what a dealer told me, this is MBs last chance to bring back the W203 sales from the earlier 2004 sales. Now, the 2005 sales are booming like no one has ever seen.

any more info? A C63 would be out of the ordinary concerning MB number scheme wouldn't? More or less it would be another C55 with the supercharger just like how they introduced it on the CL and S 55 when they debut. If they were going to have a "C6*" is would be the C65. They have always been close to each other on their numbering in order not to confuse the public. But, if there is any more info, pleaes step forward. =)

Not for future models. 55/65 is the current model line up, as you know, but the rumors on the E55 board is that the next generation AMG models (i.e., the replacement to the E55) will be an E63 which will be non force inducted. Its suppose to be a variation on the "direct injection" engine that MB is just introducing this year.

Actually, the "sport" models have the C32 body kit, the C55 comes with a much more aggressive looking front, completely different headlights a la W209, new front grille & fenders, a redesigned front (longer/wider) & rear. I had a C32 & they are night and day in looks.

I've haven't seen one in real life yet, but, personally, I'd go with a brand new c55 amg over either a new clk500 OR a used CLK55; 4 doors, more rare car, probably higher resale value, more of a sleeper IMO, and just better overall; Aren't they based on the same chassis anyway??!!! Even the interiors look the same!! Go w/the c55 and don't look back!!

Hey Chris:

How does your C55 feel in daily driving in comparison to the C32? I once drove the previous generation (2001?) S55 (non-supercharged) and it felt faster than my C32 in normal (i.e., non-aggressive) driving even though it was actually slower. I think the on the S55 the V8's torque built up at a lower rpm than the C32 and that contributed to a feeling of greater initial acceleration when gently launching. Do you get the feeling with the C55?
