Help with front body parts of C55

Hello guys,

I finally received my w203 c55 from Copart and now trying to resore it to original condition. Car is from front incident and was repaired badly. My questions are:
1. Currently the car has label on hood that it is from clk 320. I want to install original silver trim on hood, so the question will it fit? Hood has 6 holes for mounting from inside.
2. Front bumper has number typ 001 20988... instead of starting from 203.... From what car is this bumper and will it normally fit when I repair it.

For the time being I am trying to disasemble front part of vehicle to see what do I have. Already the radiator metal cover is different than original, headlamps are with cheap chinese bulbs....

Thank you for your help

There is a lot of info, I almost read all of it but only clear info I found was that front fenders are specific.

So, this means that silver trim will fit to the hood. Original radiator grille will fit as well. Considering the fact that my bumper is from w209 probably the center lower mesh grille and fog light mesh grille will fit from w209 amg? But I do have a round shape fog light and w209 amg has oval shape fog light.

that looks to be the AMG style bumper. could be that the fogs have been replaced.

Pretty sure the silver trim on the hood is only compatible with the stock C55 grille and star combo. When installing the CLK grille on my C55 I had to remove the trim.

The hood and bumper you have are correct (despite the different part numbers). They are the same. In fact, most W209 CLK (sport or AMG) parts will fit fine forward from the firewall.

EXCEPTIONS:
The fog light grilles are unique to the C55 due to the round fog lights. The round fog lights are not necessarily unique (CLS55 uses same part), but the C55 is the only W203 or W209 body car that uses them.
The wheels for the C55 have a different offset from the CLK55 (W209), although they will work fine. The spokes will just stick out further on the front if you use CLK rims.
As insame1 already mentioned, the fenders are unique to the C55 due where they meet the front of the doors (2 door vs 4 door). Different curve.

Hope this helps

Thank you guys. It means I can order silver trim and radiator grille (with support and latches). And a lower center grille with 209 part number (it is cheaper a bit than 203 part).

If you go with the 209 grille you can't use the chrome hood trim, not enough room, hood won't close.

C55 AMG T with Kleemann K2 and some stuff: 414 hp and 562 Nm :-)
In my view the original C55 grille with its chromelist on the hood is the most beautiful and C55 specific.

Another question - how does silver trim mount to the hood? In EPC there are 6 plastic nuts supposing that hood has 6 studs? My hood now has 6 holes, and they look like handmade.

PS I tried to install front bumper it was fine and now is waiting for repair in repair shop. Installed new radiator metal plate, plastic near radiators and replaced power steering line in front. Ordered C55 grille and looking for silver trim...

One more question - currently I have hood latch from w209 - a2098800164, as per EPC I shall have a2098800364. This 0364 part is no more manufactured and can not be purchased over the Europe that what my supplier said. Do you know what is the difference between them and may be I will be fine with current one? For the time being I got radiator grille for C55 and awaiting for silver trim.

The latch from the 209 has a different PN. Converting to a 209 needed a change in latch.

Hi but I am going from 209 to original 203 grille and trim. I have 209 latch now, will it fit 203 grille and trim?

Hopefully this image helps regarding silver trim grille mounting. I have black vinyl wrap on my grille, and there is a little extra wrap showing from underneath.

Thank you very much, this is going to be a challenge, since I need to weld studs for mounting... Plus latch differs from 209 and probably I need to find original latch what is hard to find.

I am not sure if this will help you but MB does provide a repair solution for ruptured welded pins.
You will have to determine if it will work or not.

I remember that the hood latch (safety hook) is different. The 203 (C55) has a PN A 203 880 03 64 while the 209 (CLK55) has a PN A 219 880 00 64. The latching bar on the front stiffening panel is the same. It could be fitment as one poster above said.

And it is also correct that the 203 hood has the studs for the chrome insert mounting. You also have to have the standing ornament as the 209 has the flat emblem.

Yes, thanks. Probably will be easy to weld part of the bolts. I do have some holes in the hood but they are differs that studs supposed to be...
