05' C paintwork scratch proof ?

I read that MB uses Nano technology on the 05' facelift C class , that gives extra protection i.e. Scratch proof .
Is this true?

Yes, the 2005 C is supposed to get the so-called "Nano-lack" which makes it up to 35% more scratch-resistant by embedding small ceramic particles in the paint.

Great Would that also mean more expensive to repaint ? In case of scratch repair , will MB will repaint using "Nano lack". Just guess not other repair shop can offer this technology..........

It's just a ceramic particle lacquer, although it has to be reapplied to the whole panel, so if you get a scratch on the roof, then the whole roof has to be resprayed.

NOt to worry.. Nano paint can not be re-applied outside the factory. It requires a baking process with temperatures far higher than any oven used in a body shop. I had my car re-painted after it was keyed and the drivers side is now nano free! Too bad but it is the way it goes. MB has a list of standard clear coats that can be applied with nano clear coats but they do not have a way to re-apply nano paint at this time.

So if someone says "it is more expnsive to repaint" the new MBs because it is nano lack technology, we can say they are trying to rip us off right
tks

quick quesiton about painting - when a part of the car is being repainted, is it necessary to put it in a bake room? i had my front bumper repainted and the shop just applied the primer, paint, clear coat and then let it dry.

any input will be great!
