Do you lose any power when the fuel reserve light comes on?

Well, today I was doing some more aggressive driving on the C55. I had the fuel reserve light come on, and now I could have sworn that the car felt a little slower with that light on. After I filled it up, it seemed to have felt pretty much back to normal again. Yes, this could have been my imagination, but does it cut back on performance at all once that light comes on?

I dont think it does anything when the light comes on but I do recall that the C32 went from 1/8th a tank to 0 miles to empty faster than I could believe. When that light comes on in a C32 you find the nearest gas station. If it came on mid canyon run I started shaking in my boots for the nearest station is always 10 miles away

But the C55 has a better MPG rating that the C32.

I would say it could be in your head but either way its easily solved by keeping gas in the tank. But I feel your pain. AMG cars sure know how to drink!

I agree with that, i noticed that with this car and my old C230. Now if thats true, i am wondering if its possible the car can really be slower with the fuel reserve light on?

I would think so because the computer should try to save fuel by providing less power when you are on fuel reserve.

I have made a mistake many times of turning up my favorite 20 miles loop of canyon driving without checking if I had any gas. After going for 10 miles I look down and see I have NO gas. Most of the time I just keep going for well once you reach the top you can coast down . I have never made the car go any slower due to low fuel levels.

At the track, SMG and I tend to run the car until it says 1 mile till empty (at race pace it gets 6.2 mpg). We dont start running slow until the cool down lap at which point we cool of the brakes with a mad dash for the filling station. The car never seems weak durring the last few laps so I gues all is well in the timing department. Lap times do not slow but get quicker as the car gets lighter and lighter.

The C55 I picked up yesterday were with half tank ( I think less than that as I did not check ). And, after 100km drive, the fuel light ON.

The average consumption as indicated was 18-20 Litre per 100km at bad traffic jam ; and 13-14 for highway.
Is this acceptable?

Anyone knows how many more km I can drive after the fuel light ON?

I am off the topic sorry

on your command there is an option to tell you how many miles/KMs you have left until you're out of gas, it's under "distance".....ck you're owners manual on how to access this....not sure if it's the same set-up as we have here in the US so I don't want to give you wrong instructions.....
