"C55 look like CL" :-

I admire MB fans in the USA who can always look forward to become owners of other higher end models of MB. We here bear with rediculus vehicle registration tax, expensive fuel and so little roads; that means getting a C55 is already a big overkill. Not many here are dare to dream a CL.

Yesterday, my C55 received the first salute from two guys leaving the car park and I could recall seeing their eyes full of delightlfulness; and while they opened up the window , here were our conversations:

- Q: "Is this 55" A: "Yes"
- Q: "Fast?" A:" Yes. Fast; but it is still under break-in period..."
- Q: "Does it eat up fuel?" A: "Yes a bit more when in bad traffic, a little bit more then the 320 when it is under normal condition"
- Q: ( silence with sign of salute ) A: ( silence with a great smile on my face )

He means CL style grill since all the people for the C32, if they wanted a big star on the hood it was the CL grill. Now that the C55 used the CLK front end, the CLK grill will fit. And no, the C55 and CL dont have the same headlights.

That's clarified my stupidness
I have not spend long enough time to figure out what I like/hate about the C55 look, for curiousity sake, is the CLK grill(big star) structured in one piece?
And, is it very easy to replace it (e.g. release screws?)? Where can we buy original CLK grill and do normally people keep two and swap them like clothes?

Pretty much looks like 4 door CLK. Somewhat SL like. However I Would just get a flat badge and leave the grill starless. Makes it more unique.

I think the W209 grille should bolt right on to the C55. unless MB made some weird changes other than the foglight.

Does anyone know if theres a C55 like grille for the C32.. or just a normale 2005 grille?
The 2005 grille sadly doesnt fit the 2004.. I know Harris has posted a pic one of something like that.. but cant remeber if he offers them.

Hi Frank

Thanks for info. But forgive me, you did not sound very sure about whether a W209 grill can be bolt to the C55 without any problems? I am thinking to try a W209 grill and swap it back if I don't like it. And, where can I buy the CLK grill and the flat badge ?

The W209 grill will fit on the C55 without modification, but the W209 will not bolt onto the C55 without mod'ing the hood. On the C55 it has a chrome strip in the hood opening that the CLK does not. On the 209 this strip is deleted so the large star in the grill will fit. So, if you want to add the 209 grill to your C55, go buy the CLK grill and basically snap out the old and remove the hood strip and clip in the new one !!!
