How do I get the 4.9 0-60???

In a c55, how do i get the 4.9 0-60? i know its an auto so its easier to get it than a stick, but when i floor it with esp off, i sit there spinning tires, lol. i asume they use the perfect tires, on the perfect terrain, bla bla bla. but how to i get to 60, in the fastest time, with a stock c55? Manual mode? Auto Steptronic mode? Kickdown mode? lol. thanks alot guys, i appreciate it.

is my car slow or something? lol. u mean when u floor it on a dry surface the car just sits and spins its tires? mine spin with esp off it seems like the whole 1st gear, but its going pretty qucik as its spinning.

I am not sure how they get the 4.9 0-60, i would also like to hear some comments. I do know that using the speedshift is probably not the way to do it.

ESP off, manual mode, get on the gas and brake till tach revs to 1500. Let the brake go and roll on the gas.

thanks for the info guys. yeah, i turn esp off, then if i smash the pedal, it starts going forward, but it goes forward slowly while the wheels are spinning like a mother, plus the car kinda sways left and right a litle bit cause of the spinning tires. i always assumed there was more of an exact pattern to it than getting the feel of how hard to push down the pedal then gradually pushing it down more and more, get what i mean? i thought it was like: ok, put it in this mode, push the gas pedal down all the way, boom, 0-60 in 4.9 sec. it does make more sense that you gotta figure out how much pedal the car can take though. ill try turning off esp, putting it in S auto and instead of smashing the pedal, ill push it down half way then when i think its good to go without wheel spin ill use kickdown. in fact... ill do that in about 5 min on my way to school. thanks guys, l8... off to law school i go! bah!

Easiest way it to roll into the throttle. Gotta be smooth, yet fairly quick. If you just "whap" the pedal to the floor as fast as you can you'll only spin the tires (or freak out the traction control if you leave it on), as everyone noted. Put the throttle down smooth & fast and the car will launch forward nicely with the tires clawing for traction as they spin a little bit here & there. Sittin & smokin 'em isn't the quick way.

OH yeah, almost forgot... just leave it in drive (sport mode) or you risk hitting the rev limiter if you hit 2cd just a bit too late & you'll ruin the run. Don't run 40 lbs of air in the rear tires either! Waaay too much!

Since u have a C55, comfort me! lmao j/k. Like someone said above, when they floor their C55 it just sits and spins the tires?!?! When u floor your car on a dry surface does it just sit and spin with ESP off? like i said above, mine is spinning alot when i floor it from a stop, but is also moving very quickly as its doing it, its not just sitting there.

yeah i was the one who said that it spins alot. dont worry, your car is fine. mine doesnt just sit there and spin, its like yours, itll spin but go forward at the same time. its just that it goes forward slow, when i say slow, i mean compared to acceleration with a grip ya know? dont worry, it does go forward, just like yours, but it goes forward slower than if you push the pedal down 3/4 of the way and go with good grip.

spinning tires

guys sorry i don't think this has anything to do with power of your car... its the pavement you are on.. that will make the difference with spinning your tires profusely and spinning while moving and increasing speed.. ever been to the track? you can spin forever even if your car only chirps off the line in the street.. its because of the surface your tires are on IMO...

I guess this is true. There is this one nice smooth flat road where i live where its so easy to spin the tires when u floor it. But the other day i was on a pretty ****ty looking road and it was not smooth at all and when i floored it the tires pretty much just chirped and no spin at all.

I'm into road racing so I naturally tend to modulate the throttle a bit & adjust how hard I stomp on the gas so as not to "blow the tires off". It won't just sit & do a burnout (not that I've tried) if you just mash the gas, unless the road is slick. It actually launches pretty good for a car with low profile tires & an independant suspension. I don't think you have anything to worry about with your car.

I guess good new on my car is the dealer fixed some of the nav issues last week & it hasn't blown me out of the car again with noise! Bad news is they scratched the fender (again) and lost one of the plastic pop rivets from the trunk liner.

Do you C55 racers spin the wheels set transmission to S mode or use M mode . If you use M mode , which gear you start with (1/2/3)?
I am a total idiot about wheels spinning and racing

Welcome to the world of mAd ToRQuE, yO!

Nearly 390 ft-lb of torque (they underrate it) coupled with 245's and NO limited-slip (a tip of the hat to Mercedes there for not giving us or offering as an option that which one can get on a $30K Mustang, Camaro, or Firebird--when they were still for sale) equals spin, Spin, SPIN! And if you disable the traction control, beware: you can get axle hop, which will munch your rearend and tranny in a big hurry. If the back end starts hopping or jumping, 1) let off the gas, IMMEDIATELY; 2) never, never, ever do what you did again.

I finally gave up on the 245's and stuck W210 E55 18's on the rear with 265/35's, and that helped a LOT. Still have to be careful when launching, though.

Best technique I've found is left foot on gas, right on brake, traction control off, hold revs in the 800-1200 range (can be higher if traction conditions are really good); then, jerk foot off of brake, followed by a "fast squeeze" (DON'T just stomp it) on throttle once you get some weight transfer to rear-end.

Ideally, you want a *bit* of spin (otherwise the engine will bog and slow you down), but not too much (otherwise you'll tick off tenths spinning when you could be moving)...a bit more than a chirp, but waaay less than a burnout.

Btw, this is for the W208 CLK55. I don't know if the traction control has been improved since then, but on the 208 if you start spinning, it will dial back the power so severely that it feels like you ran out of gas!

I believe I got the best times from power braking with traction control on. With it off I lost .5 sec average to worse depending on my tire condition. I would run different more better(sticky)/wider tires.
