Good buy?
Hello fellow AMG fans, for a new car I was looking at w211 e500’s as well as 204 c300’s but I was also considering a c32. I found one, a 203, with some damage and about 170k miles for 5 grand. Is this a good idea? I’m a beginner when it comes to auto maintenance but I have friends who know a lot. What will I be getting into? Should I stick to a base merc?

a Mercedes is hard to fix on a tight budget not to mention the maintenance it would need at 170K miles. Depending on the damage, you could easily spend another $10-15,000 totaling your cost to $15,000-$20,000. Is it worth the time and hassle, is it?

Totally different cars. A C300 4MATIC is great for winters and as a DD, known plenty go on and on without too much maintenance. The C32 is for throwing down power to the rear and making a good power/weight ratio. Totally different uses....
But get ready for C32 specific problems, the motor is perfect, but a leak in the intercooler, or a bad supercharger mag-clutch will put you into quadruple digits. However, there are many pro's to a C32: solid trans, motor, rear, brakes. Typical/normal problems include the rear main seal and valve cover gaskets, nothing major.
The catch:
Don't listen to me. I've put too much $ into my C32 to be trusted on this topic.
