Hello and thanks for listening/reading.

Firstly I have learned a great deal from these forums and truly appreciate all of the knowledge I have gained (and money I have saved doing my own maintenance).

My girlfriend has a 2003 C320 W203. SHe had it in the shop for a maintenance recall (from an indy: bad new fuel pump) and the mech mentioned she really needs new engin mounts.

I was able to do the passenger side in about 40 minutes but the driver side is a U$%^I!!! nightmare. I have seen posts where you need to drop exhaust so I have a couple of questions on that especially since I am using ramps and crawling underneath:
  • Is it necessary to remove the O2 sensors or can you just disconnect at the connectors? The front O2 sensor looks a bit problematic to remove and put back on due to access. The mounts kit from FCP euro included 2 exhaust bolts and ringed metal gasket for exhaust.
  • How far back do you need to continue removing exhaust before you can start on engine mount? Does dropping exhaust mean removing the entire exhaust (to tailpipe)?
  • Are there any other options in getting to the top bolt? I have seen some people say to take out the compressor but I do not know how rugged the hoses are to be moving it around and I didn't see any exploded diagrams of A/C compressor removal.
  • Is there other maintenance to be done or items inspected while I have either the compressor or exhaust removed?
I will say that my w210 E320 engine mounts were a breeze...70 minutes and a couple of scratches on my arms.
Sorry for the all of the questions, just want to get this rectified. According to the data card the engine is 112946 31 325493

I did the mounts a few years ago on my C32 when I added headers. Not too difficult. You must have one of these:
Amazon Amazon
to get the top bolts out on both sides. Disconnected and dropped just the front part of exhaust at the manifolds. I do not remember if I removed the O2 sensors or just unplugged them. Good luck.
