c55 advice need
Hi PEOPLE, I need some advice on purchasing a C55, I am currently looking at 2 vehicles one is a 2007 model with the 7 tronic gearbox and 120,000 km and the other is a 2004 with the 5 tronic and 126,000kms . Both cars have full service records and appear to be well looked after. From my reading and research it appears that the 5 tronic is a more reliable option, "Am I correct in thinking this ?" as I want reliability. Also, what should I be looking out for when comparing these two vehicles. The price is the same for each car. I just want a Sunday driver . Thanks

The C55´s were produced in Germany between late -04 to early -07, and always with 5 gear automatic.
Sold in North America 05-06, but only sedans.
F1 Special Edition (400 hp) was sold only in Germany.
Total amount produced (sedan, estate, SE) was approx 4.600.
SLK 55 Black Series had the same engine as the F1 Special Edition (M113 EVO with some extra stuff as headers etc).

https://www.vindecoderz.com/ go to this website and enter your VIN chassis number it will tell you which factory your car was assembled in
which market it went too , build sheet like special orders like a 7 speed gearbox .

Thanks everyone. I went with the 2007 C55 and yes they are all 5 speed, I am new so will ask a few questions from time to time. Does anyone else find the paddle shifters slow and laggy. These shifters on my 2007 were apparently factory fitted. cheer

ZAYED,
I am planning to built a M113 engine in my w460 G class.
class.
I will also take the interior (seats), dashboard and instrument cluster.
I'm considering 3 options as donor vehicle.ML55 amg pré-facelift (before 2002) W163
- Engine: M113 5.5
- ECU: Bosch ME2.0
- Transmissie: 5G 722.6
- Engine: M113 5.5
- ECU: Bosch ME2.8
- Transmissie: 5G 722.6
- Engine: M113 5.0 (eventually upgraded with a m113 5.5 amg engine afterwards)
- ECU: Bosch ME2.8
- Transmissie: 7G 722.9 (internal TCM)
Its hard to find a cheap facelift ml55 amg for parts.
Pre-facelift with ME2.0 are cheap.
Also i found a cheap ML500 w164.
I like the 7G transmission and the modern instrument cluster look of the w164.
What would you suggest as a donor vehicle considering my whishes?
I know that tuning/programming the ME2.8 is easier then ME2.0.
But the 7G transmission from the w164 is harder with software tune/programming then the 5G. (Speed sensor removal for example)
Hopefully you can help me.
Many thank from the Netherlands!!

it has the engine you want, tunable ECU, (The 2.0 is very difficult to tune or to find a tuner most people running that would switch to the 2.8.) A solid trans. The only thing is, I would highly recommend getting a tcu tune to add some pep to it. Zero cat is very good! I hope this helps man and good luck

From my knowledge, I recommend ML55 facelift.

Then i got both advantages of engine 55amg 2.8 and 7G transmission.
Maybe its too hard to get the 7G to work properly without limp mode if different sensors are not there?

Is it even possible to swap out a ME2.8 500 engine to an ME2.0 55 engine? I can imagine that the me2.8 needs another 55 file. But do hardware things also match on those engines?
