That looks really nice! It seems lighter than the Birdseye Maple in my CLK430. That is a good thing, in my W208 you could not tell the wood was even there at night as the stain was almost Black!

yeah, I contemplated Bird's Eye too when i read the options list before looking at the car, but when I saw it in person it didn't look as good as the one that is offered in my sis' 04' E so I went w/ the Alum trim.....

This eye of this beholder thinks it's too dark for the black interior. In the E or S class where it's less claustrophobic inside I think the wood works. It is gorgeous wood so I thought about it for a few weeks before settling on the standard silver linear pattern metal.

God damn that looks good, I love the birdeye maple in every model except the G and S class the CL,SL and C and E should all have Birdeye's maple as an option at no extra charge. Espacially the AMG's.

I just wanted to say thank you for posting the wood. Mercedes has been totally zip-lipped on the maple and has called it everything from black birdseye maple to birdseye maple to dark maple. I bit the bullet and ordered the car with it and having seen the pictures, I am not unhappy at all.
I have the wood on my w208 clk and do feel it is a tad lighter, but it is not even a bit brown. The brown woods on the mercedes vehicles just feel too gentleman-like and established for someone of my generation. The dark wood gives a high quality feel without losing its sportiness.
The aluminum probably is the sportiest, but I think the wood is a more expensive and luxurious look for whatever value that has.
Anyway, thanks again.
