C55 vs M3

Bought a Japanese magazine while I was vacationing in Hong Kong. There was an article to compare the performance of C55 and M3 on Nurburgring. Although M3 wins almost every corner, the lap time was identical. Sorry Bimmer fans, your motto "we'll beat you in the corner", is lame. :v

Re read what you wrote!!

you said that the "Although m3 wins almost every corner, the lap time was identical" this means the M3 carrys more cornering speed for most corners but the C55 is quicker in a straightline in order to get equal lap times, you've actually corfirmed the "we'll beat you in the corner" lame motto.

The C55 is much newer than the M3 sounds like AMG is playing catch up....lol :p

No, that motto would hold true if the C55 was quicker in the corners and the M3 was beating it in a straight-line. The real motto should be "We'll beat you in a straight line."

Hmm........ I don't mean to flame another disucssion of AMG vs M. All I want to show is, it's not just the curve is important and people should realize that the stock AMG and M vehicles have a similar lap time and it's not worth arguing which one is faster. Go with the one that you like but not what is liked by other people.

I agree 100%.General opinion is that a "real sports-car" must be a manual. As I share this opinion and love BMW handling, I would go with the M. Someone who wants a comfortable and soft ride with impressive performance numbers would go with an AMG.

But the displacement of the two cars is totally different, not the fairest of fights

yes Benz would be the way to go with ur with comfortable and power, but if you're into "hey look at me" and a little go (straight line) thats M3 for u.

the C55 will pull harder on the line but slower in the corners ( not by much).

Is there a language barrier here? People keep mentioning that the M3 is a "straight line car", but you support that argument with the fact that the M3 is quicker through the corners and the C55 moves faster in a straight line.

Also, why the "hey, look at me" factor for the M3? That's the most idiotic insult towards the M3 that I have ever heard. Perhaps people would prefer it because they would like to drive a manual sports car... not a slushbox? Perhaps they would prefer the M3 because handling is more important to them than straight-line performance, and the M3 has agility which is unmatched in it's price segment. Perhaps they would prefer the M3 because they enjoy the SMG, which offers shift times similar to that of the Ferrari F1. Also, the paddle shifters or a clutch is a hellovalot more fun than a slushbox to most car enthusiasts.

Like I said... the C55 is slower through the corners.

When I see a post with repetitive emoticons and ignorant assumptions, I know that i'm going to be looking at an "idiotic insult". If the M3 was my "dream car", I would be driving it. Instead, i'm driving what I prefer... something that is more comfortable, more relaxing, and overall more enjoyable for me. A high-performance vehicle isn't what i'm looking for through rush-hour Los Angeles traffic... i'd prefer something comfortable and luxurious that I can just cruise and relax in.

time to trade in your car early and sell me ur lights early, KEV!...

the AMG was never made to have the track as it's main focus. there are only couple AMG that was made for that purpose which was the CLK GTR and the new CLK DTM. I'd love to see comparison between the new CLK DTM and the M3 GTR that came in 01 with limited production V8.

I also wanted to mention that you're comparing the new-gen C AMG to the old-gen M3. Wait for the new M3 to come out in a few months with what? 400hp V8?
