C32 vs C55

So I have 2 colleagues with C32's & the one guy upgraded to a C55. He waited hit some mileage & then they tested against each other. I was present & even drove the C32 on the one run. I must say at 5000ft elevatio it seemed the C32 had the edge. Mind you there wasn't much in it. But on a rolling run from low revs the C32 seemed to just nose ahead & the 55 struggled to close the gap.

But at around 180-220km/h the 55 would pass & put its nose ahea. But then it would stay like ahead. BAsically the cars would run side by side all the way to 240km/h with one car a nose ahead at times & the other car at other times. If one guy get sthe jump on the other then there's no way to catch up.

Toss $3K in mods into the game, and race again. The C32 will walk away. This was the point that I made long before the first C55 arrived (that the C32, stock to stock, is the performance equal of the C55 and, with a the same "mod money," the C32 is far superior). I still do not see the attraction of the C55, other than the fact that it is the new model. A potential buyer can almost park two used C32s in his driveway for the price of a new C55.

IMHO, the new C55 would have to be hovering around $50K to make sense. When they get there, let me know.

I agree... if that race happend at sea level that C55 would have walked away since it kept with the C32 at that elevation. If i have guessed the outcome i would say the C32 should have pulled the C55 at that elevation.

Fast Cars!
Also i dont know if u raced from a stop or not, but the C55 might be a little harder to launch then a C32 due to the extra torque.

I don't see why C55 isn't a faster car when it weighs the same with more hp and tq.

I do agree with 3k to spend our C32 can be a faster car. :p

R&T did a road test on CLK55AMG and it reached 1/4miles in 13.1XX.

Same engine in a ligher C-class will make a better time?

any comments?

I think the weight is roughly the same, but the CLK55 has a better drag co-efficient.

C32 AMG
I do not think C32 would that much slower vs. C55 at sea level. Driver would make more of a difference.

Look at the dynos below.

i know i probably contradicted myself somewhere... but the c43 only went a-tenth or so faster than the c36 even tho the v8 has about 40 more hp and torque than the i6 and the c43 was supposedly lighter...

Ditto that Vader, but I am in San Diego. Granted, my C32 is slightly modded, but I will give the poor C55 the jump. Any takers? Can't get much closer to sea level than San Diego!

THE BOTTOM LINE IS THE C32 IS EASIER AND CHEAPER TO MOD TO GET REASONABLE POWER INCREASE, $3000 OR SO GETS U 400HP

True. But I think the C55 looks awesome with the longer CLK front end, new interior changes. Its kinda like the "poor man's" CLK55 with 2 extra doors. While the C32 is cheaper to mod, the C55 has greater potential. I have a Kleeman product chart, with a Stage 1 Kompressor they listed 530hp, 510lb/tq. Stage 4 will get you to 600hp. Some may say for the price of a C55 + Kleeman SC, why not get the E55. You will not get an E55 for $70K, try $85K. Even if you could, it will not handle as well.

But most of all its the feeling of V8 torque and the sound of a V8 exhaust.

(Please wait a sec while I put on my flame-retardant suit.)

Damn, there are a lot of C55 haters here, lol. I've owned both & other than the C32 being easier to mod, i think that the C55 is much better in every way.
