estimated value of c32 in 2 yrs? what are you getting next?

i like this car but was planning to sell next summer so i can offer new buyer 1 yr starmark to 100K as an incentive/peaceofmind. however if i'm in for a beating at that time may end up keeping. can you guys guess where we might be in terms of resale in 2005? ($30-35K) 2006? (high $20s?)

and what are you guys moving on to after c32? i'm thinking 2003/04 E55- but i change my mind very often! ..maserati coupe (used), m3 (the new one)

yes resale value sucks on the C32.

therefore, i am driving the hell out of it for lots and lots of miles...

my next car will be a Porsche 996 (Turbo, GT3?) i am set on that. unless something incredible comes up. and if i can't afford it, i will keep driving the C32 until i can. i don't plan on my next car being a benz i want something much more sporty and aggressive, and i plan to modify it in a different philosophy not how something you can really do on a benz.

I will wait for the dreamed 997 911 4S
that costs 200K here - so that would depend how much my investment is making

If it were a MB , I would consider CLS55 AMG

AWDman...
How many miles do you currently have on your 32? I currently have 42K and am thinking of keeping the car as long as possible. I also have the 100,000 mile starmark warranty and think my maintance cost might be low enough to justify keeping it. In a couple years I'll think of bringing it to Evosport!

Next car 2007 ZO6 with an aftermarket flipout NAVI

Nothing
I don't know what my next car will be, most probably not an AMG, it loses too much value. I paid R520000 in Nov last year for mine, and now they are selling for about R440000 to R460000. That's a loss of about R80000 which is about $13000. I'll most probably go for an Audi with the new DSG box in about 2 years from now.

musings.......

99e36m3,cntlaws - good choice. i test drove a 993 TT just before commiting to the c32. but it was a want vs need issue at that time so i let the head rule. still , i find myself looking ever so often at prices for 2001/2002 996 TTs. (shades of pierre32, who also jumped ship). if i did that i would look for a 2000 or so audi s4 to fill need for 4dr.

Roseylv-i have 21K on the c32. all trouble free miles. a reliable car is so easy love......the wife drives a few miles a week in it. my starmark is up 9/06 it will be well short of 100K at that time. i'm enjoying the s2000 in my daily 70mile commute. I have your plan in the back of my mind as well.....i need to get in touch with a board member who will let me drive his evosported c32- i suspect that may create power cravings....but i would not act until the warranty is near expiration say spring 2006.

AMG FANATIC- yes these cars lose value pretty steeply. i bought mine with 5k miles so that took the edge of depreciation, still....

For me, I want a "supercar"

I love my C32. but its not as aggressive or as much of a show stopper as my previous cars. Hence, I want a 996 twin turbo. to me, that is the ultimate supercar.

Hey, you were pretty accurate with you prediction for 2006. I bought mine one year ago for $27K with 44,000 miles and CPO.

C32 2007 Prices

A local dealer has a 2003 C32 with 25,000 miles - all options: Navigation, 6-Disc Changer, Head-Lamp Washer, Xenon, Rear Sunshade, etc... listed for $34k, which means you can probably drop it to $30-31k.

So you guys were pretty accurate. Depending on miles, conditions, and options, price will vary from 24k to 34k.

The C32 is a great daily driver, and it is even more FUN to drive a modded one...

An E55 is an amazing car, but in a year or two from now, I wouldn't consider it much more desirable than a C32.

I bought mine a year ago (a 2004) with 9k miles, all options, CPO, 40k. I prob could have got it a little cheaper, but it was absolutely perfect and I really wanted it.

I just got a 2003 C32 AMG with 60,000 miles for $20,000. It has a couple of small dings but seems to be in good shape otherwise.

I think I'm going to prep mine for sale shortly. It's a delightful car in modded form , and I've addressed/upgraded all known issues with the W203 chassis - but since it is not my daily driver (I have a regular car for that) there is no need to maintain a sedan as my garage queen. I'm probably going to go to a pure sports car for the replacement. I'm thinking a 2002+ NSX. They are a lot slower in a straight line, but balanced in the corners and built like Swiss watches

Anyone looking for a really clean, well maintenanced Stage 2 C32? I think I'll sell her at KBB with most/all the mods left on for free plus all stock parts included.

you will take a massive hit on the deprecation on the nsx. why not get say - a 1995-1996 with the 3.2l 290hp?

your car with the mods and the tasteful blue seat inserts sounds like a deal.

It's funny that we agonize over depreciation on our C32s, but then talk about jumping into BMWs, Porsches and Maseratis!

If we were smart, we would all have cheap, Japanese sedans as a daily driver; and then a quasi-exotic that you use minimally and keep for many years.

ooooh i'm smart

i have a 1991 nissan nx2000 i beat to work 75 miles a day. runs on 87 , fwd, has lsd, automatic, tall 4th 2400 rpm at 65 mph. timing chain no belt to replace. paid $2000 3 yrs ago at 51,000 miles. now 92,000 and has cost nothing save brake pads and oil changes. need tires soon tho.

then there's my quasi exotic the c32. wife drives it mosty and it's used for family outings, dinner etc anytime a nice car is needed....... oh yes, i occasionally can be seen flogging the living daylight out of it on the track. bought with 5,000 in sept 2003, now 61,000.

then there's the f355. bought at 14,400 miles oct 2005, now 16,200. i do about 1,500 miles a year and that's driving it pretty much any time i want to.

but back to the c32. the depreciation was a factor in my keeping it as well as the car's potential post mods. i think the 2002 are well depreciated may not have more to go, just a question of mileage. i figure on keeping mine until 80,000 - prob around late 2009. right now i still like the e55 as it's replacement. plan on getting a private sale 2005 or 2006 and getting the additional 3 yr warranty to 100k.

the big question for me is what will i use for track. i may get rid of the f355 in favour of a gt3 or a radical. time will tell.

I bought a CPO '02 with 29k on it for $25.5k a couple of months ago. I negotiated a fair trade in price for our '04 C230 and also got the CPO 3.9% financing deal on the difference. I was just casually looking but the right car came along and trading the old car in saved a whole bunch in taxes (in my state, you only pay tax on the difference if you trade in). Those factors, coupled with the low financing rate (the normal used car rate is now 8.5%-ish) convinced me to do it.

I'm very happy with the car thus far. Wonderful machine. As to what's next, God, I don't know. I think I'll keep this at least 3 more years, if not longer. Between our '06 RSX in August and this car in March, I've had enough for car buying for awhile!
