Unfortunately, I think we are all in for a **** show with this car. I have under 100k miles and my car may be toast without some of these parts. I just installed a water pump and kept another as a spare but this belt tensioner is going to be the death of me. I am hoping that a master mechanic that I know can actually build something from similar parts to work. The pulley on the belt tensioner of the C320 does not sit out far enough to reach the serpentine belt on the C32. If anyone gets a fix on this please post. I will also post if I find a solution. I truly can't believe that there are no parts for a car that is only 20 yrs old and especially a car like this one. I greatly appreciate all of you that are trying to assist.

I would imagine that the m112k tensioner has a heavier spring due to the supercharger being run off of the belt.

The front serpentine system is really the problem, as it is only on the m112k engine. Alternator, water pump, pulleys and tensioners are specific to this low production 20 plus year old engine.

Side Note

One more to add for the C55: new fuel injectors are NLA now.
(I got hit with a double jeopardy as my 2006 BMW M5 also has NLA fuel injectors.)

Religious use of fuel injector cleaner it is!

it does not BTW, it’s missing a hole for mounting one of the pulleys for the supercharger.

So folks, what is the smart strategy? Unload our vehicle before they become worthless or drive them until the repair is either not possible or financially tenable? At 233k miles I realize I am on borrowed time.

At 233k I wouldn’t think it’s worth much less when the water pump or idler goes out than it is in running condition. You are in borrowed time with the whole car at this mileage.

I haven't confirmed its the correct part, but pelican has it potentially. But yeah some stuff is getting harder, I did a bunch of work on my C55 and had to get parts from like 4 different sites.

Hey there, Benz tech here in the US. Unfortunately they are unavailable from factory, and Germany will not make them any more. A buddy of mine bought the last 4 new ones in the world. There seem to be a few available from Chrysler/Dodge dealerships but they want around $400 for the part. I'm in the same boat here too as I own a c32 as well. A few of us in the C32/C55 group that I'm in are researching and experimenting with different setups, if we find something useful I'll report back here

Hey guys! Y'all should be able to use the NA M112 tensioner unless you're running stacked pullies that require the extra tension. On stock cars and cars with only smaller blower pullies (within reason of course), the NA tensioner should suffice. You can swap idler pullies between the two as well

The car has plenty of life left, I'm at 230k now on my manual swapped c32, and I don't plan on quitting on her yet! Conforti Brothers have 475k on their E55. These cars are great. End of the day, it's what y'all wanna do with the car. Personally I'd say keep it going for as long as possible, and then after that keep going

used but hopefully not abused

car-part.com For whatever reason, there are a number of these in recycling yards in the NE. For a dumb chunk-o-metal part like a belt tensioner, a used one is fine. Replace the bearing, clean it up, and you're good to go. For electronics, suspension parts i want new. For something like a tensioner, if it's a choice of retiring the vehicle or going used, go used. My 2 cents. Good luck.

Unfortunately the tensioner also wears out, not only the bearing

Has anyone had any luck finding these or using the Dayco ones? I'm a Mercedes-Benz Parts Advisor and have been having a hard time with a customer's car that's currently in service. Everything for it is NLA, and I've been trying to help out a fellow 203 owner. I've ordered parts from eBay before shipped from Latvia, but they never arrive. I was just wondering if anyone has figured out an alternative yet.

Thank you!

I don't know about that. I recently replaced all the side molding on my car because the previous owner had blacked out the chrome strip. CLK trim is about 2" too short for the C55 fender. What fits is from the regular C class cars.

I'm going to take a tape measure out next time I go to the wrecking yard and measure the dimensional differences. Obviously the hood is the same length, but the distance from the wheel well to the door is longer on a C55 than a CLK.

Throwing in my 2 cents, are the C55 crank pulleys going the same route of NLA, PN 1130300003? I was thinking of picking up a C55 and the crank pulley is part of my preventative maintenance list on any M112 or M113 I buy. I was going to price a pulley and the few that I have found are $1k+ now. This was a sub $400 part 3 years ago when I replaced it on my W208. I didn't even see a Corteco equivalent in my brief search.
