Well my little "run in" with the curb

This is standard mercedes. Hitting a curb at speed always breaks at least one control arm on the suspension. Crazy, huh? The steering rack is probably bent due to being torqued by the curb on impact. The thrust arms you can live without if you don't want to use your afterburner anymore. Having the brakes on is like motorcycle riders tensing up their muscles before impact. They break every bone in their bodies, while drunks walk away because they are so out of it, that they just bend and absorb the impact. Hope this helps. Sorry for the afterburner joke, but I am kind of slap happy right now.

At least you didn't have the problem I had on my old CLK. This probably works because I am not exactly a weakling, but sometimes I would hit a dip in patched pothole or a pothole and the wheels would want to do one thing, but I would be pointing the steering wheel another way. Anyway, to make a long story short, the wheels would move, but the steering wheel would stay put. The stink of it was going to find a hole that would turn it the other way so that the steering wheel looked pretty when the tires were pointed straight. If nobody gets this, then it is probably a sign that I didn't explain it well. Poop.
