Another convert....sort of :)

Greets! I've been a lurker/semi-regular poster in the CLK55 forum and have made the jump over to y'alls playground. I am a former owner of a 2001 W208 CLK55. As of ~6pm CST today I am an '05 C55 owner!

Anyhow, I thought I'd pop in and warn y'all that I'll be around. I'm in the Dallas, Texas area....anyone else?

My car is silver/black....got COMAND & the lighting and premium packages. Thus far I love it. Anyone got any pointers on a power source to tap my V1 in?

Congrate, post some pics... There are some threads on V1 if you search. Most tap one of the posts in the trunk and run a lead from there. Pretty easy, takes about a half of an hour.

too many to list
I live here in Dallas, did you get your car from Park Place or Ewing Autohaus? I also have my V1 hardwired. I just took it to a good stereo place and watched them make every move.

Bought the car at Ewing. I got my CLK at Park Place...but I live in Frisco (aka "southern Oklahoma") and it was a real hassle to get there for service. Ewing has this silly "if you didn't buy the car here you don't get a Mercedes loaner" rule so I figured what the heck. That, and they had three in stock to choose from.

Pics are up! They're at http://saxmaniac.net/sax/new_car
I was surprised to park them side by side and find they are almost identical in size. The C "feels" smaller, yet has more interior space.

Anyhow, I'll be around.

Great pics and Congrats!!!

I really like the pic of the back end (I think it's pic #14), looks very cool! I can't decide if the C55 looks better during the day or night, either way this car looks soooo sharp!!! Have fun!

Great pictures. Sorry to hear you've gotten rid of the CLK55. Since both cars have the same motor I'd be interested in hearing your opinion of the differences between the C55 & the CLK55, in the power and handling department.

Whelp, my CLK had some issues so my getting rid of it has been in the back of my mind for awhile. In the 4 years I had her she was hauled in on a flatbed 4 times (twice inside of a one week period last year) and had several failures. I loved the car...and it was always covered under warrenty...but it was annoying.

2 weeks ago I got in to go to work and the car asked to go to the shop because it sensed a problem with the alternator. They replaced the alternator and heard a knock in the motor. When they started talking about maybe going internal to the motor I decided it was time to move on. Oh, did I mention the warrenty is up 11/29?

I went out and drove everything I could think of. Since I had tons of equity in the car I was looking at everything from a fully decked out Honda Accord (which would effectively be free) to a new CLK55. The C55 just offered the best balance of comfort and power...along with the best looking (IMHO of course) package.

Thus far I'm really enjoying the C. It feels smoother than the CLK. I haven't really stomped on the gas yet (trying to ease into it...that and it's been *&#@#$&^ raining here) so I don't have a full on accelleration feel yet. I willl say the suspension feels much crisper. It's just whipped through a couple of my favorite turns. And the shifters on the steering wheel rock!

I'll comment more as I get more time behind the wheel. As of the moment I'm still in the initial state of euphoria.
