Pics of my new mod... Coilovers for C55....

Sorry, there not installed yet! :p Just recieved my KW variant 2 coilovers a little while ago. The kit looks very nice. I am hoping to have these installed this week if not then, the latest next week. Once they are installed i will comment on the ride and handeling differences. These should give me the drop i am looking for to compliment my new wheels that should be here soon.

here are some pics of the kit. If anyone is interested in these for the C55 or any other car, i sell them for 1,569.

Nice! I have the KW V2 coils on my Audi A4. Very nice setup - feels like the springs and dampers are perfectly matched. One thing is though - I set my rebound way too stiff so it feels like my car is basicall a flat board going over bumps.

Congrats - can't wait to see how they look on the car!

I actually want to make it pretty stiff. Some people think i am crazy for liking a harsh ride, but i somehow like the way it feels. I know each setup is a little different, but how easy is it to adjust the stiffness when there installed? If its possible at all. I think you adjust it from that little screw at the end of the shock right?

Yeah, but in my A4, you have to take apart the whole thing to do it. For me, thats not a problem as I have an impact wrench and Iv'e taken apart my suspension about 10x by now. But for most people, that's very hard to do.

BTW, I set mine at 75% stiffness front adn 90% rear - made the car a little more neutral but its a very stiff ride over some rough road stretches in Nor Cal.

Also, I'm not sure how its set on the Merc - I'm not sure if the top of the shock shaft shows through so you can adjust it while onboard - the top of my shock shaft is inaccessible when installed - so I ahve to take everything apart.

Yeah, i am not the kind that will be able to take off my suspension my self. So hopefully i will get them the stiffness i like and keep it like that. Unless it was accessible.

Thanks. I would have got the H&Rs if they would have had a rebound adjustment. I have heard people say there just to soft, and i wanted something pretty stiff.

Why do the V2's use the external resevoir for rebound adjustment application only? Is heat an issue? How does their design differ from Koni's? Did you inquire about a V3 application for the W203 which they were considering producing? Did they offer a camber correction top mount they were thinking of producing? Did they release the spring rates and shock valving values? It would be interesting to get together all the coilover cars from the different manufacturers for subjective testing.

Hmm.. at least for my Audi the V2's don't have an external reservoir. They simply use Koni shocks to my surprise as the inserts fo rhte coilovers. The Koni shocks themselves can then be adjusted only by turning the shaft - but in my car requires removing the whole thing.

Have you installed the coilovers yet? Been waiting for your opinion on these.
Also, is the rebound adjuctment knob easy to access?
When rebound set to softer levels, how does it compare to stock?
thx

The coilovers were installed today!!! All i can say is, they are awesome! I had them set it to the stiffest setting and its pretty damn stiff. The headlight keep bouncing up and down even on a flat road. But i love the way it rides. The car has no body roll at all with them on the stiffest setting. The front is very easy to change, you just open the hood and you adjust it from the top of the shock with a knob. The rear i was told is easy also i didn't look how to do it yet, but the front i heard is easier. I am going to keep them on the stiff setting for now. I cannot comment on the softer levels as i have not tried them yet.

I am also selling these kits for the month of December now for $1,425. I HIGHLY recommend them.

I will post pics up maybe tomorrow with the new wheels and the coilovers installed.
