2005 C55 Command Question...

Hey gang!

I had a quick question for all of C55 owners out there who have the Command system installed. I was at the dealer the other day and my buddy was showing me his new CLK500 and in his car the entire screen was motorized. Meaning when he pushed the eject button the whole screen would fold down to reveal 2 slots, one for the DVD and one for the CD.

Is this the same command unit that is currently on the C55?? Or is it a fixed screen with the CD slot on top like the older models?

Thanks in advance.

My M5 was motorized also. It revealed ... a cassette player slot.

Faisal,
The euro W203 and W209 DVD comands are made by Becker...the US DVD comands for the W203 and W209 are made by Alpine...

In the past MBUSA already used alpine MCS units for the M-class where as the rest of teh world M-classes came with Bosch comands...

This is the reason why the euro DVD comand did not take ths US W203 disc...the euro W203 DVD comand will most probably take the US spec W211 comand disc though...

What's the difference between DVD navi and regular Navi? Sorry for the dumb question.

Typically faster because the technology using it is generally newer (e.g. faster processor, etc). However, the main advantage is not having to swap CD's to do e.g. the entire US. My guess from other cars I have owned, is that the cost savings on a new DVD is not that great (if any) compared to CD's because they charge more for "value", not how many media you need to buy (e.g. 1 DVD vs. ~5 CD's) but I need to check that.

Anyone know if you are entitled to a free Nav DVD update as an original owner during the first year?
