i don't have a c55 but i think my c320 got the same fuel tank as the c55: 16.4 US gallons.
according to the C-class operator's manual (page 432), the car got a fuel tank of 16.4 US gallons, including a 2.1 US gallons of reserve. so I guess you can still drive another 37 miles (at 18 mpg) after the gas needle showed empty.
16.4 gallons - 2.1 gallons = 14.3 gallons
14.3 gal x 18 mpg = 257.4 miles
2.1 gal x 18 mpg = 37.8 miles
total = 257.4 miles + 37.8 miles = 295.2 miles

If I'm doin my daily highway commute my tank will get me about 300 miles. Granted that is just cruising on the highway. As soon as I get about having some fun with it, its almost like watching the gas needle go down.
I've got this 300 mile/tank average quite often (my C55 has about 12,000 miles at this point)

well with just over 3000 miles on my car, my best mileage has been about 270, worst about 230, but it was fun getting there...IM hoping to one day see 300 miles...

You know they use to beat everybody by about .10 a gallon, now they are lucky to beat them by a penny. I don't think there regular stuff is all that much of a bargain anymore either. I'am buying a new TV after the first of the year and found the same models considerably cheaper at discount electronics stores vs. Costco. Like $3500 OTD from a discounter and $4000 from Costco.
BTW everybody gets their gas from the same pipelines, the only difference is the additives.

I don't know if I trust using their gas. To me, you get what you pay for a lot of the times.
