brief blizzak lm22 review

tires were installed about 2 weeks ago 225/45 on stock rims. they are spread a bit in back on the 8.5in rim but look acceptable. the rim protector does extend over lip to prevent kerbing.

turn in and transitional stability are pretty good for winter tire. tire feels noticably softer as compared to pilots. i have not tried in snow as yet but impressed re dry handling. last week took car with 3 biz associates (incidentally one has a slk32) into manhattan (unusual for me to have 4 adults in car) and no complaints re tire with the extra load..

will post update later when i have chance to try in snow.

Did you get them installed by MB dealer?
You HAVE to get two extra front rims and put them in the rear.
Wide rear rims CAN NOT be used with 225 tires.
Check with MB if you don't trust me.

purchased from tire rack. they did not advise against fitment on 8.5 inch rim. it think that's the max width permissible.

i have a "hookup" at tire place so i go around the back. mounted balanced for $30.

I think they are a fantastic tire, especially if you get ice in your neck of the woods. Just be careful not to drive them in the warm weather or you will burn through those suckers like they were giving them away for free.

Did you consider LM-25 or Michelin PA2?

Norm.

...I read the tire rack reviews and took their advice in consideration before deciding. it seemed like lm22s were a notch above the rest granted i did not spend a huge amount of time reseaching this issue. i expect to drive a limited amount of miles this winter. (i'm much more motivated to find the right summer tire for myself and the c32 tho... :-)

Thanks. No reviews on LM25 (probably too new). Luke from TireRack mentioned he likes them (and the LM22) FWIW.

I'm running the LM-22s on my stock 17" wheels, 225s all around with no problem. They were great in the last big snow we had here a couple weeks ago. Also fine in dry and wet.

my winter beater is in for brakes so i needed to commute with the c32 .....here in costal CT we got 4-5 inches of wet ice overnite. pulled out of my driveway onto 1/4 mile of unplowed road. car cut right through w/o t/c lite coming on. hit i95 south at 6:00am and was able to drive far left lane in ice , slush 45-50 mph w/o any problems.

the t/c lite came on a few times whilst on way to 195 but i was starting to explore limits, overall i'm pretty amazed at the LM 22 capabilites. far more traction than my beater nissan nx2000 - 2700 lbs, 195/60 allseasons, limited slip diff, FWD. may get snows for that as well...

safe motoring all.........

Recently got LM-25 (225x45-17) V-rated on AMG Double-Spoke 203 (7x17). I also had LM-22's on a previous car. They seem to be quite good in the white stuff (the little I have driven so far). Quiet, smooth, track straight and got a great deal at The Wheel Exchange.

Thanks, you are correct and I meant 7.5". I like the wheels and not difficult to clean at all.
