C55 owners! check your spare tire!

My wife had a blowout and when the tow truck came to put the spare tire on it was FLAT!!! The car's 2 months old and the spare it flat. Unbelievable.

If anyone wanted to know what a new back rim costs it is $900. + $300 for the tire and I'm out $1200+.

What a bad day, Scott

Its actually supposed to be that way.

The spare is a collapsable spare tire - there's an air compressor under it, where the tools are, that inflates the collapsed spare to the proper pressure - then you put it on.

Kind of wierd for MBZ to do that - but that's the way it is apparently.

Maybe he means it was flat after attempting to inflate it.

In that case, I apologize for being presumptuous!

Hmmm ... that wheel/tire insurance for about $450 or so is not sounding like such a bad deal. I'll have to check if I can still get it.

Well, maybe he will clarify it for us because if he did try to inflate it and it failed, I'll be out this weekend checking mine.

BTW, these Vredestein inflatable spares are the same used in some Porsche models.

Norm

You're right! Didn't know that. Sorry for the alarm. I might have seen that compressor if I have gotten the flat myself. It probably confused the tow truck driver really good.
