C55: MP3 Playback
I've read where some people claim they can't playback MP3's through their COMAND system and just wanted to know if this is a dead subject or are there still people out there that are not able to do it?
I've tested my old and new MP3 songs that I have burned throughout the years and they work perfect in both the...
1.) Front single slot
2.) CD changer magazine
Now I also tested a CD that has DVD (it plays the songs in my home DVD player and plays the music video) but this didn't work in my COMAND system. I've read where some guy said his S500 played this through his COMAND sys. which I think would be very cool!
I also read that some were using a different program to burn their MP3's to CD (i.e., Roxio, Nero) and this worked for some.

I have heard of poeple saying the COMAND can play DVD's, but i think that was only very early 03 E classes if i remember correctly.

Mine won't play MP3 files on CDROM.
Here our MB audio system for C55 is called Audio 50.
(That is supoosed to be better than Audio 20,30.)
I wonder anyone replaces the stock audio here.
What are the possibilities to incorporate other brand audios systems yet maintain the volume / chapters controls in the steering wheel controlled display menu

No it doesnt play MP3's...
No it doesnt play Mp3's in any slot. Tried the Nav, front slot, and cd changer.. none worked but it does read regular cd text... So if u burn a cd with cd text it can read the songs names and display it.

The file I have saved on my computer is an MP3 file but I will check to see what format was used to burn to my CD's. I assumed it's MP3 b/c the sound quality is GREAT and I don't remember trying to use any other format.
I used Roxio to burn my CD's. Either way, I am able to play all of these CD's PLUS, I received a CD from one of my tech guys a few years ago, which are MP3's burned to a CD and this also worked in ALL of my slots. I listened to this CD along with all my others this weekend when I went out of town.

PS I will confirm and get back to everyone. All I know is I can play my own songs which sound really good! This is worth it to me even if it doesn't end up being MP3 format. I'll see.

Cd Text
To burn the cd text when you choose to burn the cd make sure you check the box that says include cd text. I know roxio has it and record now max im sure all the programs have it just look around for it in the program.
