I have run both sizes. The printed number does not necessary measure the actual observed section width. On the same size rim width, a 255 in one manufacturer may be wider than a 265 in another. So far, the Toyo T1-S fit the best in 235/265. The GSD3 also fit well, but has a more vertical sidewall and had less clearance to the strut tube than the Toyo. When I put the SPSSR's on the car in the same size, the rubbed at all four corners as I exited the tire shop and as I drove back to my office! Much wider section width, presumably due to the very vertical and stiff side wall construction. Good thing I have a huge inventory of different sized tires, so I turned around and mounted 225/255, and the 255 rubbed a bit under extreme cornering forces. A little fender rolling solved the problem in the rear. Even with my fender rolling in the front, the 235's are too big, and I will have to make further modifications to the fender to get them to clear, and this is with a ET32 front wheel. I will bet that SO3's in 225/255 will equal T1-S's in 235/265 fitment and observed section width mounted on the same size wheels.

Here are some pics of the Toyo's and Dunlops:
