My C32 would be useless without snow tires....

This is my second winter in my C32. And the second winter Ive driven with blizzaks lm-22's. I love them! living in the northeast with a rear wheel drive car, it should be mandatory to have dedicated snow tires. I used to have a CLK 430 with all season tires, and driving in 2 inches of snow was a white knuckle experience. I would have no traction and slide everywhare. It was like putting skis on my car. But these LM-22's on my C32 make the car very confident in snow and slush. They also have good dry grip and low road noise compared to my summer 19's.

Anyways fellow AMG er's who drive in winter climate areas, I truly suggest getting a set of snow tires from tirerack or whoever. You won't be dissappointed.

I live in the Northeast too and enjoyed having the LM-22's on a previous RWD car. I have the LM-25's now and they are superb.

Yeah, I'm going through my first winter and haven't picked up a set yet. Did you mount them on your stock rims? ~ how much are the blizaaks per tire?

Thanks

Dear AMG friends,

I live in boston MA.
After reading some of your posts...I just spent 1700 on tirerack and bought their snow tire and wheel pakages.

I bought 4 X17 inches AMG 5 spoke rims
and 4X Dunlop M3 winter Run Flat tires..

you guys think its worth it?

I really hate it when they dont have snow tires for the C55's 18 inch rims..making me buy a completely new set of rims for pretty much nothing.

Which tire sizes are you all using, staggared set up or the same size all around?

You shoulod be able to get Dunlop WinterSport M3's on your stock 18' rims. I have a set of 245's on my stock 18' rims and they make my E55 feel like my old Audi A4 Quattro. Dedicated snow/ice tires like the Dunlop's are mandatory if you live in a snow climate area and will be driving the car. I was out in about 2-3 inches the other day and it was AWESOME.

We should be getting close to 6 inches this weekend so I will fo back out and see how the beast does.

But for stock rims...will they fit (a 245/40/18 winter tire)? I mean OEM tires are 225/40 front and 245/35 in the back in 18 inches.

Good question, I am not sure since my stock setup is 245 in the front. Since you have 245 in the rear stock, fitting the 245 should be fine. I checked TireRack for the 05 C55 and they recommend a 225/45/17 but I am sure you could fit the 225/45/18 Dunlop WinteSport M3 on your stock rims.

Good Luck!

We should be getting hammered with snow this weekend on the East Coast.

You usually want the opposite..

of a summer tire setup for the winter package. IMO going "down" to a 17" setup is better than sticking w/18's (more sidewall). Also going "narrower" is better for biting/cutting into the snow (not so great when the roads are clear though). I wish I could get a 16" set of wheels that would clear the calipers in my c32.

PUMAs!!!
pretty much my rule for amgs is when you have one and you live in an environment that has a winter snowing season, then snow tires are a must unless you have a winter beater ie. escalade, m class, suvs...

A TPM system is required when using run-flats. I used the Pirelli's several years ago and found them to be decent.

I have Blizzak LM-22s on my SLK350 on 17 inch wheels and its awesome to be able to drive my car in the snow. It is actually more sure-footed than my C320 sedan with all season tires on 16 inch wheels.
Go figure!
