E55 brake kit for C32...

I dont know if you guys saw this or not, but TWS has a kit that makes the E55 brakes work on the C32. It includes two 14.2" rotors, two 8 piston calipers, and 8 pads of your choice(yes, 8 pads.) Here is a picture of one on Mike's car. The kit is $2500 which is an amazing deal. Apparently they bolt straight on, and feel the same as stock. If you are interested call 909 468 1311 and ask for Alfred. Tell him that you saw AaronC's post on it.

The E55 AMG brakes are MUCH heavier than the stock C32 AMG brakes. I am not sure whether that is a wise mod or not. I am considering the 6-piston 2-piece AMG brakes found on the '05 CLK55 or the Performance Package AMG brakes for the C55.

Well, I guess it is all in what you are looking for. If you are looking for fade free brakes with a little compromise in unsprung weight then this is the way to go. After all, a heavier rotor has more mass, more mass means more heat can be absorbed before the pads get out of their operating range. The same is true of the caliper. If it has more mass it will absorb the heat, delaying the time to brake fluid boil. If you want to offset some of that weight you could always get 2 piece rotors, and still have greater braking power becasue of the larger diameter of the rotors, and the extra power of the calipers.

Not to mention the fact that it looks cool as ****!

All I can say is that those calipers are HUUUGE. Almost too big on a C32 for my taste!

might as well get the brembo gt brakes. the only difference; one's red and one's silver. Not sure if brembo use the multi piece rotor on those 55 brakes.

anywayz, the added weight from the large caliper wouldn't do the car any good. the better choice would be the 6-piston caliper from the 05 CLK55.

ok a heavy rotor is never a good thing. The factory rotor is all cast iron and it is one big heat sink. The solid section in the center absorbs heat and will not let the heat dissipate. A proper rotor will be a 2-piece kit with an aluminum hat. The hat will weigh less and the air between the iron section and the aluminum section will allow the head from the rotor to dissipate. There are man E55 owners who would like to get a 2 piece rotor made for track use because the stock rotor gets far to hot.

At large piece of hot metal might take 1 minute longer to become to hot but once hot the larger iron rotor will take longer to cool off. Some brakes can be too big and in that case a smaller rotor will stay cool for a longer period of time at the track (because it can shed the heat more quickly).

Either way skip the amg kit and get a stoptech kit. It is a race kit while the AMG is just a big set of street brakes.

I saw that car being worked on at TWS. That brake kit is not plug and play I saw Albert doing most of the work putting the brakes onto that specific car. The front brakes are 8 piston AMG (brembo) brakes found on the E55. CL55, SL55, S55, etc. The rears are 4 piston and not 8. These are by no means plug and play, I saw Albert sweating and working his *** off to retrofit these on. I asked Al and Sander on the ease of install and they told me it takes alot of work, but can be done. They also said 19" wheels are a must, because barely any 18"ers will clear the fronts. I just went with the C32 upgrade about 6 months prior, I am now tempted to do the C55's 6 piston upgrade, but id have to sell my C32 BBK first.

Hi all, MikeL is right

The weapon E55 brakes wont just bolt up and are not the same - and yes you need 19's.
The new SLK55 brakes are the 6 piston type I think and these will fit and perform better than what is standard on the C55- see photo

Its a shame they were not placed on the C55. Although on the other hand I have track tested the MB press car here and found no issues with the stock brakes...Im still running my C55 in, so I wont hurt them yet! And they are an improvement over my W210 E55

Sean's Sister--
brembo gt kit is a lot lighter then the e55 kit , even though the e55 kit is made by brembo...better off going for the brembo's, cost a little more but you'll save weight right there...i heard you got to drill the holes a little bigger to make it work....

To fit the E55 kit onto the W203 you will need some minor modification to the braking system and a custom adapter unit similar to the Brembo kit but no modification is necessary to the caliper itself. It's safe to the extent that all big brakes are safe.

the adapter is the only thing basically that gets modfiied...

I would much rather do the CLK/SLK 55 6-pot front/4 rear...those E55 brakes weigh like 20-25lbs a piece...very heavy, but they look great
