AMGME: First prototype should be ready next week. I will have testing and dyno data in about two weeks. Watch this board for graphs and updates.

Thanks for inquiring.

Hi Vadim, thanks for the update. Look forward to the results. What is your best estimate on this upgrade? +20hp/tq or so?? Maybe more?

amgme, Renntech claims an increase of 20hp with their pulley, so I imagine the one that Vadim is developing will be somewhere in that range.

2-3 lbs. of additional boost. Should be around 20-25 HP, more with other mods. I should have data shortly. Stay tuned.

Personally, I think I would go with suspension upgrades before even worrying about more power.
I wonder if Renntech has tested all the mods they supposedly have available?
272 Horse 4 banger? Well it's only 20 Grand and a voided warranty. I hope the AMG version with the 6 makes it to the states. Now that would be something...a C Coupe with 350 HP from the factory.

i got a partial suspension upgrade. i installed h&r springs which i got from evosport which makes the car more agile in turns. i think they're working on stiffer sway bars. i read somewhere that the stock amg shocks are good enough and doesn't really need an upgrade.

hope the pulley kit doesn't cost too much when they come out w/ it.

yeah, i saw renntech's prices and my eyeballs almost popped out. they're charging way too much for a pulley kit. i mean, how much does it really cost to produce it? i think if the price was lower, more people would actually buy it. set it way too high, not many would get it. i for one would set a price where a lot would buy it.

They are Renntech, the most famous aftermarket tuner for Mercedes-Benz, people from all over the world are, and will continue to give them business regardless of how high there prices are.

Pulleys and pricing
Personally I have to agree with amgme regarding pricing strategy.
A "overly-high" price will certainly attract competition from other manufacturers. This is the effect we are seeing here.

Pulley kits are not rocket science, and high quantities can bring the prices down towards prices people see on the Japanese-car kits. The prices will probably never get that low, but anyone that is getting into this game needs to offer something special, and a lower price is the "ticket" to market entry.

Hooray for more competition and more HP. Works for everyone.

well.... I guess Renntech thinks that whether you spend $50,000 on a C32 or $100,000 on a S55, a couple grand for mods isnt going to be a big deal to you. Just speculation
