Check here - I realize you want the "lens only" but its cheaper than the $tealership :

Dude, that's waaaay more than the dealership. Check out this thread for another forum: http://www.club202.com/forums/showth...t&pagenumber=1
Go to page two as the p/n's are lister for the C43 foglights. Lens should be about $20 from the dealer. I replaced mine about a year ago, and the dealer wanted $400 for a new light + install. Should take you 30mins to do the replacement.

I bet they tell you that it is not right, its a different model, etc etc. Believe me, the part numbers in the link I showed you (on page 2) are correct. I got the info from MBenzNL. If you dont know who he is, do a search on his name on pretty much any MB forum and you'll find out his info is credible.

first of all, why do you need to replace it? is it just foggy and milky ? if so just use mothers plastic polish and work it in for 5 minutes. its only a 5 dollar product. but if your lens is broken, then yes, go for the replacement

I'm going to try Sun Motor Cars in PA, I obtained a new Smartkey from them for $129 including the valet insert.

The Lens on the C43 foglight is glass, I dunno if Mothers plastic polish is going to be abrasive enough for glass. My lens is cracked and needs replacing.

good luck, you'll probably need to take the bumper off. i don't know of any other way.
i did it a couple of weeks ago when i was trying to fix the contact issue i was having. it's not too bad a job but you might need an extra pair of hands. bumper is kind of clipped in on both sides. you need to gently pull the side away from the car to unclip it.
and or course, the are 4 nuts to unscrew
when putting it back in make sure the gap is about a mil on each side. also make sure both sides clip back in well.
i found it easier to clip the left side in first and then the right, although they seem the same when i tried the other way around the left wouldn't clip in properly and i had to start over.

Thumbs up How about $18 and change each?

Hey, Staplegun.

www.autohausaz.com has them for you, hit their site and use the P/N search window on the left middle of the screen. Type in the part number with the spaces as noted below or you can just search by year make and model (which is how I found these numbers).

The left lens is 170 826 09 90 and the right is 170 826 10 90.

Re: the other post, I haven't done a lens on the C43 but on the E chassis there's a large plastic cover/dam under the front, about 6 or 8 screws to remove it and then you can access the foglight to remove it and replace the lens. Check under there before you pull the bumper, that's a lot of work. Either way if you're under the car wear goggles, crap will rain on you like you wouldn't believe.

FYI when you replace the lens use a good rubber treatment on the gasket, rub it in well and leave a film of it behind, it will cut down on water leakage.

Good luck and enjoy the ride,
Greg

First of all, thanks for the replies everyone.

I obtained the lens from sunmotorcars.com in PA. They qouted me $18 plus shipping for the lens.

If you guys need anything, ask for Chris at the MB parts counter. I have obtained the smartkey from them at $129 and the ambient air temperature probe for $13 which is as cheap as you're going to get anywhere.

Gregs210- Do those P/Ns' work for a C36 at all? I need to replace my passenger side fog light over cover due to be cracked and all my mechanic can find is the whole light assembly for $300. If not, do you know the P/N for a 97 C36 passenger (right side) fog light lens cover? Thanks.

C36 Foglight

Chris - if the P/N search does not bring up your lamp's lenses, give them a call. They are great to deal with. Have dealt with them on many, many occasions.

Removing the bumper was NOT necessary on my 1999 C43.

Greg is right on track. Remove the C43's splash shield(s) in front of the front tire(s). 2 screws and 2 plastic nuts on each side if I recall correctly.
