Anyone interested in the phone from MB that comes with the 1998 C43. I have the phone, mounting bracket for armrest, and the multi-button console under the radio. Let me know.

FYI, there is also a unit mounted in the trunk that is part of the phone system. Sadly, this system is of little use, as no provider, that I know of, will activate it into their network anymore.

Funny you should ask. I was thinking of the same thing yesterday. So no servce provider looks at those things huh. I would love to be able to somehow incorporate my current verizon phone into the system. Even if a provider could get the MB phone going I would hate to pay for two cell phone accounts just to work one into the car. Once again getting my current one into the adapter somehow would be ideal. I just don't see it happening though....

The MB phone is also a "Zack Morris circa 1991 phone anyway". You would get beat up carrying that thing out of the car....

I realize it's probably more of a paperweight more than anything else, but what the heck...maybe someone uses it. Luckily I had the cubby hole part that supplants the telephone part over the ashtray.

I know this is a really old thread guys but I have the whole phone setup in my C43 but no phone. I thought I would be cool to get the Mercedes V60(i?) I'm not positive what the stock phone on the 99 C43 was but I think it would be really cool to have...hopefully verizon would activate it. I know this would be a huge downgrade from my current phone, but eh who cares I think it would be cool to have the phone in the car, especially if I can get it to work over the stereo. Can anyone help me out? No chance of this happening I'm guessing I'm sure verizon will have a nice laugh.

i think there is something called mikbox that enables you to hook up newer phones of motorola (ones you can activate). its a small box that goes in the armrest. the website is www.mikbox.com i think the unit is 250 plus tax and shipping. 100 more if you need the cradle. it supports all the functions of the phonekit. your car has to be equiped with PSE which is the part in the trunk. if you have the cradle or the wires in the armrest you mostlikely have it. if not, you will have to purchase that as well which is about 200-300 dollars. (can find used ones cheaper on ebay). it only likes motorola phones and only some 10-15 of them( i.e. razr wont work with it) most of the V and Q series.

good thing is they update the supported phones all the time. once you have the box installed and once they start to support newer phones, you can just change the cradle and update the software of the box and use your new phone. i heard they are working one sonyericsson phones now.

I think the most advance phone mikbox supports is V810 which is not so new but still has camera and color screens and such. and you can still use your own provider and all the functions of your phonekit.

some of the benefits of the MB phonekit is it connects your phone to cars external antenna which has a signal booster so you can get better reception upto 10 times. it keeps your phone charged up. you can use your cars handsfree (mics on each side of the rearview mirror, sounds coming from front speakers) and if you have the music on(cd or radio) when the phone rings , music goes into mute (cd pauses).

i am also interested in the mikbox however my current phone is a nokia and it doesnt support it and unlikely it will for a long time. i may add another line to my family plan for 10 bucks more per month and get a second phone which mikbox supports and keep it in the car all the time as a car phone.

if anyone gets the mikbox please post it here. instalations and how it works.
