New C43 Owner - First post

Hello!

I just bought a lightly modded 1999 Obsidan Black C43 from my father, and I look forward to being a daily visitor on this site. It's got obsidian black 3 piece Brabus Monoblock IV 18's, Brabus springs, evosport underdrive pulleys, chip, and a painted grill with smoked corners. I absolutely love this car which brings me to my first question....which I've done a search and can't find an answer to.

I picked up some 19" Carlsson 1/6 evo from a fellow member on this forum (the 18's look too small to me), but they are 40mm offset. I noticed that everyone recommends 35 offset, or use of a spacer, yet I want to slam it relatively low and wouldn't mind the wheel "sucked in" a bit to prevent rubbing. Now...will a 40mm offset "work," or do people prefer the 35 offset (or get spacers) because they like the agressive look better?

Thanks guys and look forward to chatting more.

congrats on the purchase. Show us some pics!!! How many miles on it, and if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pick it up for?

Pics

The car has 71k on it. I bought it off him for $17k with an extended warranty , so I think I got a pretty good deal. The wheels are real nice, and I know he paid a grip for them...just not sure if they are "me."

You'll probably have a hard time clearing your brakes with the ET40, but since you already have the wheels test fit them.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your purchase .Just a few observations - these are my opinion , please don't take them personally :
# 1) I am kinda in between on the blacked-out grill - I think it would look
better if you upgraded it to the S600 style grill and then blacked it out.

# 2 ) Nice wheels ! However dark wheels on a dark car doesn't do it for me.

# 3 ) Those smoked out corners are different , where did your dad get them ?
I am really tossed about them , from the side they look sic yet when
you come around to the front they seem to clash wit the headlights.
Definetly a different look though.

# 4) The flat hood badge - is it a MB badge? You might want to change it to
the AMG flat badge.

Again , good luck and welcome to the forum.

Thanks for all the replies. I decided to ixnay the carlssons and keep the brabus wheels. They grew on my quickly and after test fitting the Carlsson's (will fit with et 40 if I ran a 225 tire), I just couldn't see the car on anything else. I am wanting to lower the car a little more with smaller spring pads tomorrow, I'll post more pics when I'm done.

No is300, I just sold an a4.

Glad you decided not to tamper with it, I think it looks great just how you have it! Has a stealth look to it with the black on black....
