The 4.3L block is smaller and different than the 500 and 55's blocks. You cant bore it much more than it already is. Every tuner that builds these motors start out with at least a 5.0 V8.

I figured if it doesn't bolt right up with some work, then I will let it go, But according to jeffry it should be ok, he is working on cleaning the motor right now. If it doesn't go then I will have to go for an 03 E55. I just find them too heavy. But they are very nice looking cars.

I saw your signature that says: Silver 98 w202 C43 to W202 C55 5.5L conversion. 13.39@102mph 293whp/307fttq
How is that you converted C43 engine to C55 and get 293hp? Isn't C43 302hp already? Isn't that downgrade? Maybe I misread something..
Thank you

I would stick with either buying C43, or keep the C43 you have. Like the HITMAN C43AMG calls them, Frankenstein cars will always give you more trouble than a stock (if same driver drives them in same conditions). And believe me Frankenstein owners don't complain out and loud if they have a problem, cause of pride!! They will not admit it...
I guess it's a fair game.
That's my 50 cents (with some solid experience)

I am not the expert but I think it would be not bad idea to get a 2000 C280 with touchshift. 55 engine , suspensien , bigger brakes and a complete exhaust system. I thnk the car would be better than a 99 or 98 C43 with brake and suspension mods for the same money or less.

With the 5.4L in a C43, you take out the engine -- if your 5.4L has no external ancillary components as mine didn't, you strip your 4.3L motor and put eveything on the 5.4L motor -- then you drop in the 5.4L. The ECU even works adequately unaltered. You do get a little more flashing the ECU with a 5.4L program (you just need the right tools). With the C36, you can't use your ECU, fuel system, ignition system, you'd need to adapt the front end of the exhaust, not sure if you can use your tranni, you'd need to change the motor mount locations I believe, more. But hey, people do V8 swaps into 190s ... so it all depends on your skill level and how 'fearless' you are. I will say though, if you have to ask you probably shouldn't be thinking about it...
