i kept the rotors for now, but will probably need new rotors next time i replace the pads.
so far i've been very happy with mintex redbox. i get less dust and i didn't notice any degradation in performance. they are supposed to be easy on the rotors as well, from what i've heard, if you can believe any of what you hear
so basically my idea was that since rotors are expensive i was trying to avoid some of the longer lasting pads that could eat the rotors faster and go with the softer pads that would be eaten instead of the rotors, if this makes any sense.

$850 front brake job

Well, thank you for the info. I took my car to the shop today, rotors were appearently very thin, and needed new pads. It all cost me $850 FYI.

That sucks MAJOR A$$!!

PS: little note for others (Don't trust everybody in these forums, the guy who promised me to help with brake job and other C43 DIYs F U C K E D me) I have serious trust issues..... He /she knows who it is......

I learned a very good lesson.

$850 including rotors, pads and labor? that's cheap! i was quoted well over 2K at the dealer for brake job on all 4. i was was quoted 850 from fronts w/rotors i'd be very happy! i did it myself for less than 150 but w/o rotors, they were not that thin in my case.
you might want to adjust your expectations. any job on this car will be expensive. most parts will be expensive. anything under 1K is cheap. if you expect it to be different you are setting yourself up for a dissapointment. imagine tranny goes?

speaking about trust issues . . . i don't know your situation but i think you may have had an expectation issue. did you expect someone to do your brakes for you FOC or something? DIY stands for do it yourself, you know. if you got defrauded financially somehow then file a police report, complaining here won't help.

I feel better about the rate then, actually I will be making 3 payments on that $850, shop manager is my wife's aunt.
About the trust issues; YES you don't know my situation! I just wanted to give a friendly warning to fellow C43 owners heads up. People promise you or tell you they'd help you with something, when it's time for action, POFF! They are dissapeared!
HANGUP! I bought **** load of equipment to learn DIY crap by trusting an *******. Thats my point.... Now you know where I am coming from. Trust me I know what DIY means. I never expect anyone to do any repairs for me. It just pissess me off when people don't follow up after they commit to something. Hmmmmm... does that make them reliable?

I don't know about you but, I value people and trust them, that's what I teach my 2 sons. This is the price I pay for trusting a total stranger, I'll make sure I'll teach that to my sons too.

Thank you Hangup for your input about the rates, you did make me feel a lot better about what I paid for the front brake job. You were right $850 for everything(rotors, pads, labor). I was told that they used Jurid brand pads.
