SCI Articles on C36 & C43

Got my issues of Sports Car International today. One is on the 95 C36 and the other is on the 98 C43. They gave the C36 high marks, a 0-60 of 5.9 w/ a 14.4 quarter mile. They didn't like the steering too much, said it wasn't responsive enough. The C43 they praised over the C36 on its refinement and more power and the engine working less. Plus a more compliant feeling suspension, they said the C36 had a harsh suspension. They also said it was quicker but gave it a 0-60 of 6.3 (can't figure that one out). Overall I got out of it was the C36 is more of a "race inspired" car which AMG is known for more than the C43. The 3.6L is everything reworked from the block to the pistons, intake, crank, cams, etc. where as the 4.3L has hotter cams and a different intake. Plus the C36 makes 80hp over the engine it was bred from whereas the C43 makes 22hp over its donor engine. If I can get a hold of scanner I will scan them and make them available on the site or via email. Each article is 4 pages. Still waiting on the Mercedes Enthusiasts issues to come. But it comes down to each is their own and I can't wait to get one.

Another thing from the magazine. The BMW M3 of that year (1995) with a auto does 0-60 in 6.9 secs according to a ad by BMW in the magazine. Just for those curious to how the AMG stacks up against the M3.

85Cosworth,

Did you buy that 85 2.3-16v black/black that was for sale last september? I looked at buying it, remembered the original owner had the heads rebuilt recently.

I bought my grey market 85 2.3-16v from a guy in LA in April of this year. All original. Which explains th $2400 I just had put into it.

Bossman has been around too much at work lately to try and scan them onto computer. Still working on it though.
