Another case of not wearing a seatbelt.

Depressing to see another life wasted that could've have been saved. I've read enough articles to make putting a seatbelt on the first thing I do.

Maybe it was the consistent enforcement of wearing a seatbelt when I ws younger...

But that is the FIRST thing I do when I get into a car. I never forget. When I'm doing something like moving my car to a parking spot 2 spaces over, I still put on the seatbelt, and when I don't I feel really weird without it.

Some of my friends HATE the seatbelt and I cannot understand why.

Thumbs down

It is funny; none of you saw the word "SPEEDING" in the report. The accident was caused from excessive speed not from wearing or not wearing seatbelt. If he wasn't speeding he probably would not have wrecked and would not have even needed the seatbelt!

When I read threads like this on this forum https://mbworld.org/forums/c36-amg-c43-amg-w202/160637-150-mph-3-00-am.html, I cringe. Some of you idiots speed like this on public roads IN THE DARK are beyond stupid.

All I can say is, if you hit my wife and kids while doing stupid stuff like this, you better die in the accident.

good point....also it makes me sick when young kids get "nice" cars that arent deserved...not because the kid isnt a good kid, but because they always think they are invincible. Parents...stop buying your kids cars they arent ready for, wheather it is a Lamborghini, Benz, Mustang GT....everyone should drive a 4000lb car with 100HP for a little while.....ok im exaggerating, but you get my point.

Agreed. I also believe that there should be mandatory training and exam to people that drive cars 200hp and up. Not everybody that has the money to buy a race car is a race driver!

Not all parents are car nuts, so they are often fooled by their children that they are just getting a used, run of the mill c class. Little do they know that thing can be used as a weapon.

For anyone below 21, a high powered car is just a license to die.

My ex-cars: 03 E55,04 C32, 05 C55 ,03 E320
I had my C55 and my C32 when i was under 21...am i dead yet?

I speed everyday (c'mon...how couldnt you? the way the government decide the speed limits in this country in relation how wide and big the roads are doenst make sense)

but anyways, the key thing to drive fast is to be safe..and dont think you are invincible....I drive faster during the day because I can see better. I never speed when there many cars around . I never speed in a residential area...ya know..things like that...on an open highway...i do 90mph cruising..no prob

I know this sounds contraversal..but
they should educate people on high speed drivings....plus getting a license in the United States is way too easy...I got mine here..and frankly, it really didnt take much to get my license..

oh...and i agree..not wearing a seatbelt is just plain stupid (sorry if i offend anyone here)

We're all entitled to our opinions and I respect yours. However, I take exception to the implication that I'm an idiot for speeding in the dark. Let's look at the facts:
1. The roads were completely empty. Not light traffic, but empty. This is not justification, but does minimize the risk.
2. Although a public road, it was a 5 lane highway. It's not like I was racing down your residence at 3AM.
3. I am not a teenager with no experience behind the wheel. I've driven faster than this on the autobahn. The only things that prevent us from these speeds in the US are the density, road conditions and lack of basic driving skills of the majority of the drivers (not to mention the ridiculous laws that are a front for government revenue generation).
4. I am not an idiot. I look both ways before crossing the street, I wear seatbelts, take vitamins, can operate my DVR and spell most things correctly.

I certainly hope that if I were to hit someones wife and kids doing something stupid that I'd die in the accident. I'd never be able to live with myself otherwise. That said, I still don't consider what I did stupid. If someones wife were to randomly pull into my lane while I was speeding at 150 who would the idiot be? Heck, I see women cut in front of huge semi's every day because they want to get off the highway. I see more stupidity during a 30 minute commute than in an entire year of driving at 3AM. Perhaps my perspective is too relative, but that's MY opinion.
As for this poor lad, yes speed was a contributing factor, but it's not the speed that kills - it's the crashing. In all likelihood he exceeded his abailities and suffered the consequences.
The Autobahn is a classic example that speed alone doesn't kill - slower cars stay to the right, the vehicles are inspected annually and the fines are HUGE for doing something stupid and wreckless (which doesn't include driving fast).

To illustrate this point, yesterday I was making a left turn onto the highway. A lady next to us proceeded at the same time. The problem is that she was in the lane that was to go straight. As the cars turning left across from us approached her, she panicked. She decided to turn right. At this point she was heading north on the south bound lanes. The cars turning left carved a wide arc around her and as she cleared the intersection she was hit by an oncoming southbound driver. I think she got her license much too easily.

If the guy who hit her was speeding would it be his stupidity that was at fault?

i agree with what sdr said...i constantly drive very fast but am also lookign as far as i can see ahead and in as much control as possible...

rip to the kid who died...it is sad but happens everyday wheterh youe going 30 or 130...you never can tell what is going to happen once you get onto the road...whter a drunk hits you or you end up hititng black ice even going slow...

what you should be worried about is not the average joe with an amg but the fact that car muanafaturers are producing 1000 hp cars to be sold to exactly the people who cannot drive, but can somehow afford them....

Competely agree, I started out on my parents LR Disco, doesnt get slower than that, cant drive it agressively because it may flip, a car like this teaches you discipline.

Bottom line, car manufacturers shouldn't make cars as powerful as they are and able to go as fast as they do. Whats the point of a car that can go 160mph if there is no place to do it. Even on a track it would be tough to top out a car. (unless u find one of those high speed rings). If the government wants people to stop speeding and racing governors shouldn't be at 155, but maybe 75mph. Take away the ability, take away the temptation

what a moronic statement, im not going to even bother...

If your kid can't be trusted to drive responsbly without putting other people's lives in danger then he shouldn't be driving a lawnmower, let alone an AMG. Thats the bottem line.

As far as im concerded ppl should have to go through high-speed testing, hydroplain testing, manouverability testing, etc... before they get a licence. That way when **** does go down they know how to react insted of just slamming on the breaks and screaming.

Does this mean that the sales of Viagra have caused a corresponding increase in arrests for soliciting prostitutes?

I must agree, it is not only too easy to get a drivers license her it is just plain stupid. I live in Ca. and here you must under go 40-50 hours in a Classroom but only 6 behind the wheel with a teacher. Than the parents can drive with you. As if, they know how to drive.
-- As far as I'm concerned ppl should have to go through high-speed testing, hydroplane testing, maneuverability testing, etc... Before they get a license—
You are absolutely right my little bro, just got his license and when he gets back from Europe we are taking a high performance driving class. I’m tiered of seeing ppl drive down the road and they don’t even look. There on their cells, or just not paying any attention to anything.
We need to improve our requirements for receiving a drivers license, we must teach people to look before entering or exiting a lane, if your going to drive 45mph down the 405 stay to the right and most importantly ppl need to start being more courteous to others on the road. I’m sick of seeing ppl speed up cause someone is trying to enter their lane.
As far as coming to first cars, not younger ppl but rather thus with no driving experience such get low HP heavy cars. It teaches you how to drive. My first car was a 1985 300cd. In now, drive my clk 430 around 300hpnow and a 500hp E55. PPL need to learn to respect the car.
And please people ware a seatbelt it will save your life.
