I ordered on the 28th of december with my VIN, and I got the package a few days ago.
I too thought I'd need to get the dealer to do something, but the key came from an MB dealer in Roanoke VA (behind the website oempartsdirect.com is an MB dealer), with the parts themselves stickered in little plastic baggies from MBUSA in Houston, with my VIN and last name, and a few bar codes.
Just for giggles I went and pressed 'unlock' near my car and it opened. Plugged the key in and it started. Voila. No dealer visit, no hassles, and vastly less expensive. Note the $50ish price is NOT a keyless go key -- I hear those are closer to $200.
So pay $50+shipping, get a smartkey for your car that works just fine.

Chrome is too cheesy in my opinion, but the key design, and hustla's buying price is excellent!!!
When I bought my car, I only had 1 old key, used car dealer bought me a brand new one for $250..... That's a rape!!

Not sure if i'm missing out on something
i recond you have to have the "ignitionswitch" thingy to get this...
So it wont work on "older" w202 that dont have that key design, but have the old with the bladepopout ????
Or can everything be changed ??

If your car has Keyless-Go (W211 and up) you don't have do use the key to open the door, start the engine etc. You just have to have the key in your pocket. The door looks and unloock theirselves my touching the handles. When you're in the car you only have to push the "start" butten to start the engine or tho shut it down

Ok, a question for us newbs. I called the dealer and he quoted me a price of around $40 for the 211 766 36 06 part number and about $5 for the blade that was 203 766 50 06.
He also said that it wouldn't work for my car which I expected. What I didn't expect is he said it was just a key and not a remote. Which is even more confusing since these cars don't really have keys. They wanted about $157 for a replacement of the black remote I have.
I go to oempartsdirect and if I leave off the 9999 which seams like a place holder anyway I can find the parts listed above and some of the ones the dealer said were right, but they look wrong according to their description.
So to clarify the 2117663606 will get us a Chrome and Black Non-Keyless Go key that is also a Remote Lock/Unlock and trunk popper? I just want to be sure before I order. I know it seems like a silly question, but I want to be absolutely sure. I guess my question is does the 9999 mean anything. The dealer confused me on this and I don't want to get a plain key that isn't a remote somehow.
Thanks.
Oh and while I was typing this the Fedex guy dropped off my floor mats from bekkers. If anybody needs nice rubber floor mats with the mercedes logo on them they are like $55 from www.bekkers.com

07 SL55 P30 Designo - Sold, 06 E55 Wagon, 04 CLK55A - sold
I bought mine last week at a local dealership for my '04 CLK55A. For part #211 766 36 06 9999 (parts guy said they added the last 4 "9s" just recently), I received a SmartKey with "lock," "unlock," "trunk" & red panic on a chrome/black plastic fob. Put it in my ignition & drove away! (Part #203 766 50 06 was for the "Blade Smart Key") Good luck... it's nice looking!
