Nice
How much coinage was that, could not be cheap....I think I paid about $150 with blade insert. I know that had to be at least a couple C notes...

The prices on the keys just went up the remote is going for $140 and the blade is $3.90. These prices just came into play this past week. Originally the remote was only $38.50.

Yup, I got one too for my CLK55.

I can totally understand how the price went up...

1) Demand
2) It was cheap

I showed it to my VW/Audi buddies who show off their $200 keys all the time and couldn't believe that this new Benz one.. was $70.

Oh well...

Not sure I'd have got it for $140 or so, at least I would have made sure it worked for my car.

Honeslty, a move like that makes me want to sell my MB, then write them a letter why I will never buy another one. Ethics. Having expensive parts is one thing, to turn out an inexpensive part and jack it up with demand is bad business.

I hope and expect sales of this key to drop dramatically due to this. Enough to effect overall sales of the product I hope. I hope they will learn a lesson some day, although most of us are just as guilty because we give in to the bullpoo $$$ and empty our walets. Reading that really makes me mad as I wanted one. If MB keeps this type of thing going it will only cement my thoughts on ditching the prodject C43 and buying a C5.

I am so very mad about this....

Boo! I wish I had looked at this thread earlier. That is a great-looking key. Too bad the price went up.

Similar thing happened back in VW land...the front spoiler I had (have) on my GTI was $70 went it debuted. Then a ton of Vortexers went in and placed orders, so VW decided to raise the price north of $400. Not very cool, but I can see why they do it.

I was just quoted $147 and $38.85 for the key and insert from sunmotorcars.com - what a scam. Someone has to have a hook to get 'em at that price. Although, I paid close to that for my replacement key a year or so ago...

I need help guys.. MB of San Diego told me the price for a 07 c class chrome key is 160 bucks. The part you listed 211 766 36 06 9999 is only like 50-60 bucks for a 211.. Same key I would assume???

MBhustla.. Is your keys part number 211 766 36 06?

AMGPARTS18.. Does your key look like MBhustla's? I don't understand why if its the same key the 211 would cost $50 while the 203 key is $160.. that makes no sense.. regardless..

Please help.. I want this key!!

The $50ish key is NOT KEYLESS GO.

I've heard that the KG key is closer to the $160-200 range, and has a different part number, so that might explain why you're seeing different quotes from the dealers.

Go to oempartsdirect.com and put in 2117663606 as the part number and set 'mercedes-benz' in the pulldown menu and you'll see MSRP $59, selling price $48.38

add in the part for the 'blade standard' and you're good to go for a W211.

Ok, here is a stupid question. How much is it to get these programmed for our cars? I could care less if it is keyless go since our cars don't even know what that is. However I could buy a $19 transmitter for my old car and had to pay the dealer $65 to program the stupid thing......

So you are saying I could get the one that is about $50 for a spare key and it could be programmed by MB and work with a C43?

at oemparts direct.com I ordered the 211 part number (search my posts to find the thread in the last few days)

I ordered on the 28th of december with my VIN, and I got the package a few days ago.

I too thought I'd need to get the dealer to do something, but the key came from an MB dealer in Roanoke VA (behind the website oempartsdirect.com is an MB dealer), with the parts themselves stickered in little plastic baggies from MBUSA in Houston, with my VIN and last name, and a few bar codes.

Just for giggles I went and pressed 'unlock' near my car and it opened. Plugged the key in and it started. Voila. No dealer visit, no hassles, and vastly less expensive. Note the $50ish price is NOT a keyless go key -- I hear those are closer to $200.

So pay $50+shipping, get a smartkey for your car that works just fine.

I suspect if your vin doesn't make sense, the guy at the website will tell you, or you can email them.
